Thanks for the replies guys :) I'll do some further testing with the switches.

Re: Power button (halt/wake) without GPIO3?

This is working for me on a Pi 2: one single pole push button wired between the two pins in parallel and ground. Could you please specify "the two pins" you are referring to? :) A double pole switch. One pole to your shutdown switch, the other to GPI0 3 A non locking (momentary) on-off-on toggle sw...

Power button (halt/wake) without GPIO3?

Running 3B+ and rtc module. I want to make a power button, but it seems to be complicated due to the rtc using the GPIO3. The shutdown pin is easy to specify to another unused GPIO pin, but the wake is always the GPIO3, right? I know about the RUN header, but is there any feasible way to have one sw...

Re: Readonly Root with OverlyFS

Thanks again stuartiannaylor :) Or like I say use the empheral mode of zram-conf as the fkhdwareclock is not affected. That's how I have done it, but the fake-hwclock is "wrong" after the reboot. I'm really not sure if it should survive a reboot or not as you posted it is "not affected". *edit* I ju...

Re: Readonly Root with OverlyFS

Yeah not sure why your script makes it necessary though as with the above the clock works fine with no need of modification. Glad you are sorted. Sorry to bother you again, but I think I was bit unclear. The fake-hwclock.data (in /home/pi/fake/) gets updated ok, but it does not "survive a reboot", ...

Re: Readonly Root with OverlyFS

Hi stuartiannaylor and thanks for getting back on this :) I actually got a bit forward just before you posted your replies. I did the following: 1. As the home directory of the user pi is in the ztab as default, I figured I'd make a new dir "fake" and move the fake-hwclock.data there with: sudo mv /...

Re: Readonly Root with OverlyFS

Hi stuartiannaylor and thanks for the reply. Just to make sure I understand this: Does this solution replace the overlayFs solution completely? That's what I understood, but not 100% sure. The point with your solution would be to move everything else to zram (in /etc/ztab) and leave the fake-hwclock...

Re: Readonly Root with OverlyFS

Hi. I managed to get RPI3B+ working with the Raspbian Desktop with this version of the script (I guess there are some fixes included?): http://wiki.psuter.ch/doku.php?id=solve_raspbian_sd_card_corruption_issues_with_read-only_mounted_root_partition&fbclid=IwAR0H7zxG3FqtHRHN0IR0iZPS-kQ5naIVwJE2TnqR7m...

Re: Create and run animation first thing after desktop has loaded?

boots straight into Chromium How did you do this, using xinit and only starting Chrome or are you loading the full desktop but with Chrome on autostart ? Either way I feel the only way would be to maybe start a video with OMXplayer at some point during boot, and it will last long enough for Chrome ...

Create and run animation first thing after desktop has loaded?

I'm building a "kiosk" rpi that boots straight into Chromium with a fixed url. I have made a custom Plymouth splash/animation, but as it seems to be impossible to make it longer than just a few seconds (please correct me here, if I'm wrong!) I'd like to run (another) animation right before the Chrom...

Re: Read-only fs (on purpose!), problems with ssl/time

Thanks guys for the help. I'll do some testing :) The rtc module would be great, but as we already have a custom case that has room for the 4g hat, it's possible that the rtc wont' fit in although it's really tiny. At the moment the system uses wired connection, so it's not for the 4G to blame here....

Read-only fs (on purpose!), problems with ssl/time

I run a rpi3b+ as a headless infotv high up inside a football air dome. It just runs Chromium and displays a certain url. The system has to tolerate blackouts without root fs corruption. So, I decided to make the root fs read-only :) After some struggles I managed to get that part working. I was hap...

Re: Possible to reboot a rpi kiosk remotely without ssh (and opening ports)?

Thanks for the heads up regarding realvnc :) Seems to be a great solution indeed. I probably need the commercial licence though - at least I hope this will eventually be a business :)

Thanks again :)

Possible to reboot a rpi kiosk remotely without ssh (and opening ports)?

Running a headless rpi3b+ which is hardcoded to display a certain webpage (via chromium). I have total control over the website data, if it does help here, but the rpi itself does not run any webserver and won't. The webpage, which the rpi is displaying is running on a hosted server though https, if...

Re: RetroArch on Raspbian: the tutorial

You don't need Emulation Station to use RetroArch, it can either be run via Command Line or the simple built in Front End. However this is a Thread for RetroArch, not Emulation Station and I don't use it myself so cannot really be of much assistance. RetroPie has its own Forum which should be a goo...

Re: RetroArch on Raspbian: the tutorial

emuola OK, obviously there are constant updates and changes to RetroArch. They did an update that didn't compile properly, it was missing a 'linker' on the RPi (the /opt/vc/include/GLES2 error), but have corrected it (in the link I placed). The [obj-unix/gfx/gl.o] Error 1 happend when SDL is not in...

I do recall in the past getting this error when not installing the sdl packages (as you have) even when then not using them in the Build. Works fine without sound). Beeper sound sounds somehow wacky (like the notes a...

Hi. This emulator is just awesome :) I'm still having trouble? with SB emulation... It seems for some reason none of the games recognise my "SB"?! I can only select pc-speaker in the games, I've tested. Set-command gives the sbset variable and it seems to be ok. Is there something obvious that I've ...

Ok, figured it out myself :) If you want to enjoy C64 on a modern tv 'as it should (4:3), apply the following to the sdl-vicerc-file: RPIaspect=1 SDLGLAspectMode=0 Another thing... As you all have noticed, emulating the famous SID takes a lot of juice from the ARM... It clearly shows that disabling ...

I just tried the AreaScout's version and it's great :) Finally I have the full screen working really at the full screen resolution on my lcd (hdmi).
