Re: A MineCraft Server Image - MineCraftPi

Does this "boot the image w/ a lcd connected and type "op <username>" at the console window." mean boot the RPI with keyboard and monitor connected, wait for the boot process to get to the last line where it says something along the lines of "type ? for help" and provides a cursor? If so I type "<us...

Re: A MineCraft Server Image - MineCraftPi

Thanks for the 1.8 heads up, I think I have a spare SD card so maybe I'll get brave and try compiling 1.8 sometime. I do have a question regarding OP. I am failing to make my kid op. If he is in the game logged in to his server and he types / ops [his username] the response in red is he does not hav...

Re: How to install/ build/ play Quake 3....

So I am compiling Q3 as I type but I have a question. I purchased Q3 Arena at a used book store, the CD is sealed, it was never used. Can I use the game files on the disk rather than the Demo paks? Will the Activation code on the disk label work?

Re: A MineCraft Server Image - MineCraftPi

Using 1.8, but then downgrading at launch. Created a new profile > Version Selection > Use version: > release 1.7.10 and it plays perfectly. Now I have to figure out how share the server publicly, I am running a different router since last time... Any Ideas why I am getting the following error when ...

Re: A MineCraft Server Image - MineCraftPi

Not sure why it works now and why I was getting error after error last week but just for grins I burned the image once again, booted and this time after loading libraries it actually loaded! After attempting to OP my son's user name I stopped the server to run the config, I expanded the file system,...

Re: A MineCraft Server Image - MineCraftPi

So is the image available that worked before? Like I said this was running just great for quite a while, It was still playable just without the latest 1.8 new features. Is it possible to run the older version? Did I change something or is something on the image new or is MineCraft changed enough tha...

Re: A MineCraft Server Image - MineCraftPi

I was never able to expand the file system, either the crash happens immediately after making him OP (the next steps would be stop the server followed by raspi-config or it crashes at boot before even getting to a log-in. I could shoot a video of the screen and post it to youtube if you would like t...

Re: A MineCraft Server Image - MineCraftPi

Sorry for the noob question but this sounds like I would use:
sudo apt-get remove x (Java 8)
and a
sudo apt-get install y (Java 7)

where x and y are pointing to the bits I need???

Thanks for the response.

Re: A MineCraft Server Image - MineCraftPi

So if this is too much to ask here please let me know... Everything was working well for me, for weeks if not months. My son and a handful of his buddies were building away in his world but I couldn't leave well enough alone. Actually he wanted to update to 1.8 and I followed the instructions to upd...

Wow this little device is handling 3 players at the same time and looking over my kiddo's shoulder the speed looks perfect! Thanks for all the work on the image my kid is beside himself that he is able to invite a couple of friends to "His Server". Next noob question, the card is partitioned in two,...

Re: A MineCraft Server Image - MineCraftPi

figured it out, seems like I may have had a space in the line 'sudo nano/etc/network/interfaces' that should not have been there. Things are working locally again. I'll try the whole port forwarding again sometime later.

Re: A MineCraft Server Image - MineCraftPi

So things worked great (locally but my kid want to invite a few buddies to join him so...) but then I went messing around and now he can't connect locally! I used: sudo nano/etc/network/interfaces to try changing things as per the instructions on: http://everyday-tech.com/minecraftpi-a-raspberry-pi-...

Re: A MineCraft Server Image - MineCraftPi

Ryan- This is working! My 12 year old son is grinning from ear to ear! The first play was at Turbo and it lasted about 4-5 minutes till everything locked up. We turned OC down medium and it works perfectly. Did an update and upgrade, now I have to figure out how to make the server accessible to a fe...

Love it, took a pic of my pi sitting on a pack of Star Wars cards for size reference and thought that would make a proper geek case.

plastic project case

Put together a quick and easy (albeit a little messy) case for under $5 US. The project case is about 3"x4"x1.5" and was priced at $4, the rubber bumpers inside were priced at $.50 for a peel and stick sheet of 8. I found the parts locally at Tanner's Electronics for those in the Dallas, TX area. A ...

Re: Logitech Wireless Touch Keyboard K400: Does it work for

Both keyboard and track pad are working for me with LXDE. On occasion I would get a sticky key, press the 'k' once and multiple 'k's' would appear on screen. I turned my pi so the dongle faced me rather than facing away and all stickiness is gone. The keyboard and track pad also work in Quake3 altho...

itimpi-
I'll give that a try later today, I gave up yesterday thinking I'll go downstairs and dig around in a closet for an old sony 13" TV from the college days...it didn't even occur to me that the same display with the HDMI issues also has a analog in (not likely to be my only goof of the day...).

Re: Please use this Forum for Absolute beginners subjects

itimpi- Thanks for the tip. Tried to boot again last night and while not successful, I got the impression that the pi was sending something to the display. The display was b=getting something via HDMI as the screen switched between 'no signal' floating on a blue screen and 'not support' floating on ...
