Re: Piface python not working anymore

You need to re-install https://github.com/piface/pifacecommon as there's an update 9 days ago to make it work on new Linux kernels.

Re: Display port to HDMI

Most DP to HDMI adapters assume you have a DP output and an HDMI input.

Your RPi is an HDMI output, so you need a converter, not an adapter. Best of luck finding that at an affordable price.

Re: Set MYSQL DB on a separate read-write partition

It's trivial.

Close MySQL (or MariaDB if you use that).
Update every occurence of "/var/lib/mysql" in ANY file in /etc/mysql with the new location.
Move every file and subdirectory from /var/lib/mysql to the new location.
Restart MySQL.

Have you disabled the 115200 baud serial console?
What happens if you connect at that baud rate? Do you still get garbage?

The currently available models are: £35 3B, £30 2B2, £25 B+, £20 A+, £5 Z or £10 ZW The original A is no longer available - so you must mean an A+. Why are you considering a £20 A+ it has no on-board networking and only one full-sized USB? Networking is possible with ESP8266, ENC28J60 or any USB WiF...

I may be an ex-IBM'er but I'm in no way bitter. Getting sacked "made redundant" by IBM was the best thing that's happened in 35 years. I've had more fun, more enjoyment, travelled further, been less stressed and earned more money (per year) in the last two years than I did between 1994 & 2014 with I...

Hmm, I thought power management was supposed to be off for all. I'l flag that up.
The power management flag reported by iwconfig doesn't bear any relationship to the hardware's power management. That's a bug in iwconfig.

Re: Raspberry pi with Adafruit fm Transmitter

It's a kernel module, so check whether your kernel is built with the option set to build that one.

It's not specific to the Raspbian distro. It is built into the RPF stock standard kernel lib.

You may like Scratch, I don't. Programming should be done long hand or you learn nothing.

The NodeRed visual crap is what put me off that stuff, so I never looked at its inner workings and probably won't bother.

Re: Piface python not working anymore

Hi DougieLawson, How does the piface code determine what model of RPi your running? The 4.9.x kernel broke that code. All RPis now report BCM2835. Someone needs to fix any code that parses /proc/cpuinfo how can I determine the code? I ordered already a new pi3 and the piface because mybe hardware d...

You need to code full paths for any files used in your python program. Doing that cd command achieves nothing because cycles.py will be spawned/forked as a new process. Write a log from your program either with lots of print statements of with the python syslog module. Here's a banal example of how ...

Code: Select all

os.system('modprobe w1-gpio')
os.system('modprobe w1-therm')
Start by removing those two lines from your program.

Use the Raspi Config settings to enable 1-wire and it will load the kernel modules you need.
