I can't believe the 64-bit version is still not available for General Release.
I think it's bleeding obvious that it wouldn't be generally available before RaspiOS/DebIan Bullseye.

How is the brightness controlled ?
You write a brightness value (0 to 255) to /sys/class/backlight/rpi_backlight/brightness. You can do that with a sudo echo command or with something like my code at https://github.com/DougieLawson/backlight_dimmer

Delete /etc/sudoers.d/010_pi-nopasswd
That will leave you with no user that can run sudo.

Change the contents of 010_pi-nopasswd to

Code: Select all

pi ALL=(ALL) PASSWD: ALL

Not a chance.

Re: python script work well but not if I use : "sudo" !

The origin of this issue is I try to run a python script from PHP code but it seems that it uses the root ! $process = new Process(['python', '/var/abc.py']); $process->run(); If that PHP stuff is running in a web server it runs with UID=www-data and GID=www-data not with root. Re: Weather Staion 403 error

You'll need to trace the HTTP or HTTPS session that's getting the 403. The 403 means you've sent something in the headers for your request that the other end either doesn't recognise or the credentials you're sending don't match their stored credentials. What happens if you try connecting to the Ora...

Re: python script work well but not if I use : "sudo" !

How did you install the mysql connector? If you used pip3 install ... then try again using sudo pip3 install ...

Also DO NOT use sudo when you don't need it. It's to elevate privilege when your userid can't access a protected resource, it is NOT for running general purpose programs.

The package you want is mailutils and the command you want is /usr/bin/mail

Sendmail/postfix/exim4 are MTAs not end user tools to embed in scripts driven from crontabs.

Under what circumstances would you NOT need automounting?
Wrong question. When do you NEED automounting, it's not useful since I know I need to type sudo mount /dev/sda1 /mnt after I've inserted a USB device.

Re: Dead sdcard after power outage

Do you have any other device that can read it ? You don't need another device. You just need a bootable SDCard or USB stick (for recent models that have USB booting enabled) to get your RPi running as a rescue system. You'll then need a USB SDCard reader for the unbootable card. If you can boot you...

Re: raspberry pi DSI ribbon cable and camera ribbon cable

You can pull the cable from a camera and use it for a display or vice versa.

You can NOT connect a camera to the display connector. You can NOT connect a display to the camera connector. Both connectors are clearly labelled on the silk screen printing on your RPi.

No. Yes.
No.
They ARE physically the same but electrically different.
Connecting a camera to the DSI or connecting a display to the CSI is likely to have dire effects. You'll either kill the camera, kill the display, kill the Raspberry or kill all three.

Re: Send data to Mysql server

DO NOT USE root for general SQL tasks. root is the system admin ID, use it exclusively for system admin tasks. You're less likely to compromise your database security that way. If the database is use for "IoT", create an "iot" userid. If the database is used for "weather&quo...

Turn every one of those lines in /etc/dhcpcd.conf into a comment by prefixing a line with an octothorpe #. Reboot and let your RPi get a DHCP address. Test things are working with ping -c3 8.8.8.8 and ping -c3 google.com Then look at your network settings ip -4 addr show ip -4 route That should get ...

Re: How to disable automatic file system expansion on first boot?

You'd need to edit the image (partition #2) before you ever boot it.

You can do that with a RaspiOS system and a USB reader. You'd need to mount the un-booted filesystem in a chroot.

That should work (I can't test it I don't have a RPi4). But you may want to move the arm_64bit=1 outside the [pi4] conditional block.

If it is an Apache web server, the user is www-data. If you want to use any of the RPi functions, the www-data user must be a member of that group.
