Re: Still only one rpi zero per purchase?

Can we go back to the pink ponies and unicorn threads (where folks ask about what's going to be included in RPi4x, CM4 & RPi5x, Cm5 computers)? Those speculation threads were tedious in the extreme, but orders of magnitude less tedious than these circular, raking over old ground discussions about so...

If you connect the A0, A1 & A2 lines to ground the address is 0x20.

Code: Select all

A0	A1	A2	Address
0	0	0	0x20
1	0	0	0x21
0	1	0	0x22
1	1	0	0x23
0	0	1	0x24

There's a WiFi widget on the Raspbian Desktop taskbar. It pops up a dialog requesting SSID and pre-shared-key (psk).

Re: met office and Twitter feed

What do you mean?

Twitter with tweepy or twython is trivial (you just need a Twitter API token that allows writing tweets). You can easily do something like @CrondallWeather.

I didn't think the Meto had a public APi for in-bound observations.

Re: REAL MySQL instead of MariaDB

It's a drop in replacement, so unless your SQL is completely off the wall it's going to "just work".

AriaDB is a massive improvement on InnoDB.

Re: REAL MySQL instead of MariaDB

You'll need to build MySQL from source code, it's no longer built as part of DebIan.

While you're doing that you should compare the source code to MariaDB and you'll be 100% astonished that it's EXACTLY THE SAME CODE as MySQL with a few siginificant enhancements.

Re: Are there different OEMs of Raspberry pi 3? Can one have issues?

All raspberries regardless of whether they're built in Wales, China, Japan or Brazil are identical. There's no OEM manufacturer (discounting that Farnell & RS are the folks getting them made in Wales).

They're only made by the Raspberry Pi Foundation and no viable clone has ever existed.

We often get complaints why this forum section isn't made "read only", but so-far we have resisted such temptations.
Time to change that. This subforum doesn't just need locking it needs deleting. There's no history in it that has any use use at all.

Re: Raspberry Pi Zero bluetooth connection to android phone.

You can't ssh in from the public internet unless you can port forward port #22 to the WAN side of your router.

Easier way to connect remotely is with RealVNC Cloud support which doesn't need any port forwarding.

There's a couple of ways to see what partitions exist.

sudo blkid
sudo fdisk -l

Run either or both of those and post the results on here.

Delete these two lines

Code: Select all

os.system("modprobe w1=gpio")
os.system("modprobe w1=therm")
Add a line to /boot/config.txt

Code: Select all

dtoverlay=w1-gpio
to replace that stuff.

What you're describing is a "captive portal". There should be some words from Dr. Google to help you with that. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=captive+portal+hostapd+dnsmasq+iptables+raspberry+pi The non-captive portal access point is easy to do and is well documented at: https://github.com/Surfe...

Your "error.log" file only contain information about each time the apache server starts. If you want to see IF your PHP program has been run, take a look at "access.log". What is index.php supposed to do ? What do you see when you open that page in a browser ? WRONG! The error log will log ANY fail...

Re: Have we got a way to upgrade a Wheezy to Jessie fully remotely

The problem with the upgrade is that you get asked "Do you want to keep your config file or install the maintainers?" that stops the install in the tracks and means you can't easily run it remotely, if anything goes wrong you're dead in the water. You may be able to get over that hump if you RPi is ...
