What database?

What programming language do you know?
What programming language would you like to learn?

It got the usual picture.

Only two out of my 18 RPis are logged in to my VNC Cloud account. Is that a pre-requisite?

Re: Total noob here. Personal WS

Have you updated the php programs with the right database credentials?

Code: Select all

$con=mysqli_connect("localhost","weather","WeatherMySQLPasswd","weather");
Needs to change in data.php and csv.php. Again the docs are wrong.

What I still don't quite understand is why Apache does not log 404 errors. Had it done so, I would have figured this out much earlier. Apache does log 404 errors /var/log/apache2/access.log (here's a couple of redacted log entries). example.com:80 ???.???.???.254 - - [13/Nov/2018:08:25:49 +0000] "G...

BOTH python2 (aka python) and python3 are installed with Raspbian Stretch.

Run python 3.6 programs with the python3 command.

Don't hold your breath waiting Matt hasn't visited the forum since Mon 04 Jan 2016, 11:04 and only ever posted four times about his experiments with CCTV.

The browser of choice is now Chromium which runs quite fast (unless you open too many tabs) on a RPi 3B+.

Re: No module named bs4

Why are you using python2, it's a much better idea to use python3 for everything.

To install BS4 use sudo pip install beautifulsoup4; sudo pip3 install beautifulsoup4 to get it for both python versions.

Re: Problems with ADC1115

Then you either have a borken sensor or you've got a wiring fault.

I2C needs 3V3 (pin#1), GND (pin#9) , SDA (pin#3 GPIO02) and SCL (pin#5 GPIO03).

Re: Q. Is a Raspberry Pi a good computer for internet banking / shopping?

(I only read the original post, so am just answering to that.) I have used my RPi3B for online banking, & online shopping - what I advise, & do myself, is that after making a transaction, you switch off completely to let the ram clear, about 10 seconds - then reboot if you want to continue using th...

You need to either crimp on a new spade terminal or solder it back in place. Anything else won't work reliably.

None. It asks for password and nothing more. The new function simply doesn't appear to get called.

No, I believe it's just one TV HAT per Pi.
Two reasons
1. The hardware doesn't have any stackable pins.
2. The interface used for the HAT is on a fixed set of GPIOs and the other GPIOs don't appear to have PCB traces connected to them.

Re: Pi3 with a lightning bolt?

Don't forget with a 3B+ the lightning bolt can be due to old firmware on a plain OS SDCard or an incompatible version of NOOBS.

Check that first with a copy of NOOBS 2.9 or Raspbian 2018-10-09.

IIRC, the LAN chip is separate to the USB hub - it just runs off the same power rail and I/O bus. I may be wrong though, I haven't researched this too much yet. I've been thinking of trying this for a while myself, but haven't yet got into trying. Does the LAN chip just run the Ethernet port? The S...

I dont do online banking on my RPi, my online banking is only done via ATM machines [sic]... Which are some of the most insecure hardware I've ever met as they're running unpatched OS/2, unpatched Win7 or unpatched AIX. https://www.engadget.com/2018/11/08/north-korea-lazarus-group-fastcash-atm-hack...

If it's not a Zero, then why not?

For B+, 2B, 3B, 3B+ you should always power through the microUSB or you'll bypass the power management. Wiring a Molex connector to a microUSB is the safest way.

It's not PHP5 with Raspbian Stretch - you can't avoid getting PHP7.0. So those docs needs a re-write.
