Re: Device Path

You need to mount the partitions on a directory in the file system. That happens automatically with the GUI. Don't try to access the raw device it won't work. Take a look at the device with sudo fdisk -l /dev/sda You can mount it with sudo mount /dev/sda1 /media If you want it mounted somewhere spec...

Re: Changing IP config without rebooting

Try using

sudo ip addr change dev eth0 192.168.3.14/24
sudo ip route add default via 192.168.3.254

Obviously using your address block for the interface address and your gateway router for the route add.

Install mosquitto or rabbitmq or hivemq on one Raspberry. Have one raspberry publish an MQTT message when the LED needs to go on, have it publish another when the LED needs to go off. Client program (this will switch the LEDs) #!/usr/bin/python3 import paho.mqtt.client as mqtt import time from gpioz...

How are you going to serve a web page to request credentials if your network isn't connected? Bit of a catch-22 that one.

Re: Non-root GPIO access broken with 4.9 kernel on Pi1

The changing of permissions/ownership stuff for /dev/gpiomen is done in /etc/udev/rules.d/99-com.rules which is in raspberrypi-sys-mods package. You may want to reinstall that package.

As flashing an LED does not require writing a kernel module, it would appear the goal of your project is primarily to learn to write kernel modules.
Unless you're doing it for your homework assignment for your University degree course.

Nothing, because neither of those things run on a Raspberry Pi.

Re: Why wont hdmi work

When the RPF DSI touch screen is connected and powered up, the VC4 disables HDMI (unless you use the exceedingly experimental fkms or kms drivers).

It's one or the other with standard firmware driving the display.

Re: met office and Twitter feed

What do you mean?

Twitter with tweepy or twython is trivial (you just need a Twitter API token that allows writing tweets). You can easily do something like @CrondallWeather.

I didn't think the Meto had a public APi for in-bound observations.
