Re: RPI Thesis Project - Connection to the database

But with a LAMP server I am creating a local server right? But what I want is to interact with the remote database that is running on my desktop's WampServer. Then you'll need to change the "bind-address" in the WAMP server from "127.0.0.1" to "0.0.0.0" . Then restart your WAMP MySQL server. Create...

Re: RPI3 connection with WPA2 (Hostname - I: 169.254.3.34)

It depends on

Code: Select all

priority=100
vs

Code: Select all

priority=60
in your network block. High number means more likely to connect.

Re: How to configure GSM SIM800L in raspberry pi 3 without using serial

Connect an Arduino Nano using USB, you may need to run SoftwareSerial on the Arduino Nano. In some cases you can run this blank sketch on the Arduino (using pin#2/pin#3) void setup() { } void loop() { } in other cases you'll need to run #include <SoftwareSerial.h> #define BAUD 152000 SoftwareSerial ...

Re: Eynio - Help Needed

I have the same pb with PI Zero W -- no installer works Will that zero be supported? Not with an image for RPi2 / RPi3. Zero, Zero with camera, Zero W are all using the same chip as the RPi1B, RPiA+ and RPiB+. Currently there are no new models in the plan (apart from the mythical RPi3A). Go and ask...

Re: How to send an email at each new connection

I run this every three minutes from a crontab. If my internet IPv4 address changes it a) logs it, b) stores it c) updates all my dynamic DNS services and d) emails it to my GMail id. The clever bit is reading my public IP from the landing page on my Technicolor TG582n router. I've left a couple of o...

Re: Raspberry Pi 3 Not Working

What are you trying to use on your 128GB SDCard?

If it's NOOBS you need to reformat the SDCard as two partions with a primary #1 partition of 8GB as FAT32.

If you get plain Raspbian and https://Etcher.io there's no reformatting needed.

Re: Using system() from CGI application

You need to be root to set the clock. So you could set the setuid bits on your cgi-program (as long as you understand the security problems with doing that). Or you have to run a server on your RPi that has the permissions and transmit a request to it to set the clock. Or just install htpdate (with ...

Re: cant connect to server after configuring static IP

That reveals some interesting info. It's abnormal to have a 192.168.xxx.xxx network with a netmask other than /24 (or 255.255.255.0) which is a default if you don't code it. Your network runs from 192.168.12.0 to 192.168.15.254 as it's 192.168.12.0 /22 . With the gateway router at 192.168.15.254 and...

Switch to using pigpio and pigpiod (the GPIO daemon). That gets you over the security problems that www-data can't run programs that need root authority.

What's wrong with using the sftp server that's already installed and opening ssh port 22 so the internet can access it?

vsftpd (in passive mode) could be installed if you insist on unsecured ftp.

Re: Raspbian Stretch WiFi Issue with Pi Zero W

Why?

999999/1000000 folks don't need to add anything to /etc/network/interfaces.
All network configuration on the last version of Jessie and latest version of Stretch is done in /etc/dhcpcd.conf.

Just open a command window on your laptop and run
ipconfig /all # Windows
or
ifconfig -a # Linux

There's nothing to stop you doing that.

Re: RPI Thesis Project - Connection to the database

It's trivial to get a LAMP server running on a RPi (with Raspbian)

sudo apt install apache2 php5-cli phpmyadmin

You may have problems with libmysqlclient18 (unless the Raspbian folks have fixed that).

I have no idea what you mean when you say you need to mount a USB stick etc.
If the GUI is running USB sticks with FAT, VFAT will auto mount for user pi (read/write). NTFS things need an extra driver.

If you can't reveal your whole network topology then there's nobody who can help you.

You must be able to see what your laptop (or phone) gets when connected to your network.

The serial console needs to be disabled in raspi-config (it normmally runs with a getty task at 115200 and a root console session).

Re: RasPi 3B freezing when not under any significant load

Have a look at the amount of RAM used for each new browser tab. When you get close to 1GB your Raspberry will turn to a brain-dead zombie wading through a vat of treacle. The system goes into swapping, swapping to SDCard doesn't work (it's also very bad for flash memory wear-levelling). The top comm...
