Re: RPi 3B OneWire not recognized

Why do you say that 1-wire works for everyone else?

The problem is simple hardware failure or a wiring of hardware to Raspberry failure.

Re: Error while installing pip

Have you checked whether your network is connected and you can resolve domains to ip addresses?

Get the results from the following commands
ip addr show
ip route
ping -c3 $(ip route | awk '/default/ {print $3}')
ping -c3 8.8.8.8
ping -c3 google.com
cat /etc/resolv.conf

Re: Connecting Pi to reed switches on long cable

If you get 12V at the RPi end you'll need a relay or opto-isolator to switch a GPIO.

12V is deadly for your RPi.

I think @cjan was referring to the official release of 4.19
https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page= ... e-Released
That's off-topic to this thread, which is exclusively about 4.19 on Raspberries with the RPF fork of the kernel.

4.19 is out.
Not in the apt repos yet, still testing AFAIK.
It's still "4.18.14 commmit 7cf6484" (complete with the broken GoogleVoiceHat stuff) at: https://github.com/hexxeh/rpi-firmware/tree/next

Re: Help me my Raspberry can't turn on

Get a new SDCard and build a fresh copy of 2018-10-09 Raspbian on it.

Boot that.

Stick your broken SDCard in a USB reader, stick the reader in your RPi.

Use the good system to repair the broken one.

Power off, swap back reboot and grab a beer to celebrate a job well done.

Etcher uses 7zip internally.

It's that feature that makes Etcher with plain Raspbian a good replacement for NOOBS.

You could run RealVNC to get a remote RPi desktop and run a player on your RPi.

Re: Calibration of atmospheric pressure BME280

With a barometer you get local air pressure at your current altitude. From that value you can calculate one of two other values. 1. Pressure at mean sea level (MSL) if you know your current altitude. 2.Your current altitude if you know the pressure at MSL One or the other you can't calculate both si...

Re: Etcher or Win32DiskImager

Etcher is easier to use. You can give it a zip file. Win32DiskImager only works with an img file.

Etcher also checksums the results to ensure the written card isn't going to fail to boot.

What "virtual" files do you find in /sys/bus/iio/devices/iio:device0/* on your system?

You may be able to "echo" some values into the controls for your sensor using those.

Re: How to add files on the SD card with the ISO on it?

Not easily, because Windows applies the "not invented here" rule to the Linux filesystems and won't recognise them or mount them for normal use. Move files from Windows to Linux using a USB stick, or a USB hard disk. Or make your Raspberry run a SAMBA/CIFS server and mount that shared filesystem on ...
