rpi-update checks for its dependencies, which in the raspberrypi.org package are listed as such: curl, binutils (which contains readelf) raspi-config does not check for its dependencies (bah), which in the raspberrypi.org package are listed as such: whiptail, parted, lua5.1, triggerhappy This is no...

Oh... you're right. That's really bad. I'll add the dependency checking to raspi-config and offer a pull request to the developer(s).

Thank you very much for your contribution! :-) Thanks for your script, sadly it fails on the last step for me: Fixed. Re: rpi2strap - Debian armhf

Indeed, there is some magic in my script :P armdebootstrap get's downloaded everytime you execute rpi2strap, maybe that's not the best way ti be sure to have the latest version. I'll comment this out and add an update option or so later. I am going to add "mmcblk" devices to the check. Give me some ...

Re: rpi2strap - Debian armhf

I created the script because I don't like images.
If you need an image you could create an empty image with dd and remove the check for "/dev/sd*" in the script.

Re: rpi2strap - Debian armhf

Ok, first you have to use "/dev/sda". That's why it says "/dev/sdX" - Don't use sda5... The second problem is, that the tool "fuser" isn't found. You should have been warned that it's missing. Please download the latest version of the installer and try again. There were some changes yesterday. Be su...

Hi,

I've got good news for you ;-)
I did a complete rewrite of the installer in python with better error handling.
You can get the new version from the git repo.

Re: rpi2strap - Debian armhf

You'll see the Pi logo, because it's compile into the kernel.
When you use the mainline kernel there will be the tux logo.

Re: rpi2strap - Debian armhf

What system are you using the script on? You could run the script in raspbian but why? Put your sd card into a sd card reader and run the script on Debian. curl: (6) Could not resolve host: raw.githubusercontent.com It won't boot because the installer cannot download rpi-update which installs the fi...

SD Card Corruption Raspbian / but NOT with Kali Linux

Hello, I've experimented a bit with Raspbian and Kali Linux on my Raspberry Pi and found out something very interesting. While pulling the power plug of a RPi running Raspbian the filesystem mostly gets corrupted. I put Kali Linux on my Intenso 8GB Class 10 SDHC Card. Then while executing a "sync;sy...

HDMI -> DVI-D EDID Problem

Hello, my Raspyberry isn't able to get the EDID data from my NEC MultiSync 90GX2 with the current setup RPi HDMI -> HDMI cable -> HDMI-to-DVI-D adapter -> NEC 90GX2. I cannot get 1280x1024 but only 1280x720. I have already updated the firmware with rpi-update and tried any possible changes to the co...
