Re: Suddenly Unable to Access Pis by Name

The solutions above don't seem to be reliable, and I have failed to solve the other problems (notably locking up with Delphi-based programs and Samba on Linux-based PVR), so I have given up and reverted to the previous Windows 10 build.

Re: Suddenly Unable to Access Pis by Name

Unfortunately I have found another problem area with the W10 update so I may have to revert to the previous version rather than investigate this area further at present.

Re: Suddenly Unable to Access Pis by Name

Have just updated two of my Pis to version 4.9.35 Neither worked with PuTTy by name after the update, but the "publish-aaaa-on-ipv4=no" change alone to the ".conf" file fixed both. I will try to undo the Windows changes I have made to see if they are (still) necessary. Thanks everyone for your help....

Re: Suddenly Unable to Access Pis by Name

Should have said in my previous posts that FTP does appear to work Ok, leaving just PuTTy as the problem. Have tried installing Bonjour from the iTunes installer - no obvious improvement. Have also tried Paeryn's suggestion for the second change to the conf file, which seemed to do the trick on one ...

You need to get to Change Adaptor Options in Network Settings Then right-click Ethernet (or WiFi if using WiFI to connect to you LAN) Select Properties and then scroll down to Internet Protocl Version 6 and un-tick it That seems to have sorted all the issues - many thanks mattmiller. Re: Suddenly Unable to Access Pis by Name

Setting use-ipv6 to "no" in avahi-daemon.conf doesn't seem to help me either. If it is a Windows problem, I would prefer to see a solution at the PC end to avoid having to fiddle with the PI settings ever time I do a new build. However I have failed to find a way of disabling IPv6 on my PC - the IPv...

Suddenly Unable to Access Pis by Name - Windows 10 Problem

For several years I have been accessing my Pi's from my Windows 10 PC by name (e.g. Pi8 as opposed to 192.168.1.9) by Samba, FTP and SSH. However in the last few days all access by name has stopped working and I have had to use the 192.168... address which is much less convenient. I have tried reboo...

If you use qmake you should probably just add

Code: Select all

QT += network
in your .pro file and qmake will handle both include paths and linking automatically.
That's a neater solution, thanks. The include statement is now "#include <QHostInfo>", and the LIBS addition is no longer needed.

.... it now compiles and runs, but am now looking at why I get a blank name. Due to my silly mistake - nothing to do with the above problems. To help anyone else wanting to extract the host name, (1) My include list in mainwindow.cpp now has "#include "/usr/include/arm-linux-gnueabihf/qt5/QtNetwork...

Re: QT QHostInfo

Oops - just remembered the ".pro" file - I was looking for somewhere generic to all applications - sorry for that. It does seem rather illogical to include the network classes, but not to link to them by default. I have added "-lQt5Network" to the "LIBS +=" statement, and it now compiles and runs, b...

Re: QT QHostInfo

How are your make system for you application set up ? Standard make, cmake or qmake ? Using QtCreator or some other IDE ? I'm using the default Pi QT5 setup which I think uses qmake, with QtCreator. Since you now used a class from QtNetwork I will guess that you also has to link with QtNetwrok by a...

Re: QT QHostInfo

Then you probably need a -I<path> option on your gcc command line. Do you know where the QHostinfo file is on your system? The path to that directory is what you’d use with the -I option. Thanks - that has helped me move forward, but not there yet. I found both "QHostInfo" and "qhostinfo.h" in "/us...

Does #include<QHostinfo.h> (instead of #include<QHostinfo>) help?
Thanks for the suggestion, but unfortunately it doesn't seem to help.

QT QHostInfo

I would like to use the QHostInfo class in my Pi QT application, but I get "QHostInfo: No such file or directory" error against the "#include <QHostInfo> " statement in the ".cpp" file. However "class QHostInfo;" in the ".h" file does not generate an error. I think I am using the latest version of Q...

Re: QT & Reading EXIF data

Thanks, topguy - I thought Exif was a subset of the more general text data. Will take a close look at your recommendation, but at first sight looks rather more complicated than I had hoped.

QT & Reading EXIF data

I would like to be able to read the EXIF data in JPEG files on my Pi using QT5, but the QImage "text()" and "textKeys()" functions always return null strings even though I can see the EXIF data with PC-based applications. The file appears to be loading into the QImage as the "width()" function corre...

I got a Pi version from the author of mc2xml by emailing him and making a "donation" of >= Canadian $20 - around £12. Seems to work fine.

mc2xml

I currently run mc2xml on my PC to obtain TV programme data from Schedules Direct in order to data that includes cast lists, "first shown" dates (to provide reliable indications of repeats), and information on most channels fr more than a week ahead. However I would prefer to run this on my Pi, but ...

Re: Video Streaming from Enigma2 PVR

@gkreidl: Further to my earlier post, I have been doing more investigations as follows: (1) Moved a little forward after enabling Javascript in both kwebs - the PVR web page now fully opens and I can initiate the streaming function with either version. (2) With kweb3, when I tried to initiate stream...

Re: Video Streaming from Enigma2 PVR

@gkreidl: Sorry my previous post was initially very far from complete, and you managed to react before I had edited it to add the missing info. Hopefully the edited version answers at least some of your latest points, but I hadn't enabled JavaScript in kweb or kweb3, so perhaps that explains those p...

Re: Video Streaming from Enigma2 PVR

@gkreidl: Thanks again for taking the time to respond to my problem. For sake of clarity let me go back over what I expect to happen (i.e. what happens with Windows) and what I have done so far to investigate: (1) What I expect: (a) Connect to PVR with web browser, in my case at 192.68.1.4 (b) Selec...

Re: Video Streaming from Enigma2 PVR

@gkreidl: Many thanks for the quick reply. I have since successfully run the m3u file from within Windows (while still actually located on the Pii, using Samba), so it would not appear to be a problem with the file (which I suspected as it played on the Pi anyway). I can therefore only assume it is ...
