Re: Alternatives or replacements for camera flex cable?

If you want to use UTP, I'd suggest using two cables so you don't have to abuse the shielding. We might even try it monday, it sounds like a fun experiment. Will be interesting to see what's possible. I suggested it on the basis that if the camera works over 3 or 4m using ordinary flat ribbon cable...

Re: Alternatives or replacements for camera flex cable?

A dumb question maybe, but...

Would it be possible to make extensions from Cat5 cable ?
That might make it possible to extend over longer distances and retain some noise immunity ?

Best approach for local streaming & motion-based stills ?

Hi all I wonder if someone could give me some pointers to achieve the following setup: 1) Be able to stream footage from the RPI camera, and view using any browser on different machines on my home network. I'd like to stream at minimum 1280x720 resolution (higher if poss), ideally above 20fps. 2) Us...

Re: My Quadcopter with Raspberry Pi Camera

Have you tried balancing the rotors ?

I have a Parrot AR Drone, and have seen a good improvement in video footage quality by balancing all 4 rotors.
Some others on the Parrot forums have taken a bit more time to get their balancing 100% perfect, and the video quality is superb - no vibration at all.

Re: using Raspberry Pi with camera as car black box

Try this: base="/mnt/recordings" cd "$base" startat=$(( $(ls segments/ | grep "\.ts" | tail -1 | cut -f1 -d.) + 1 )) raspivid -n -w 1280 -h 720 -fps 25 -t 0 -b 10000000 -o - \ | psips | ffmpeg -y \ -analyzeduration 0 \ -f h264 \ -i - \ -c:v copy \ -map 0:0 \ -f segment \ -segment_time 12 \ -segment...

Re: using Raspberry Pi with camera as car black box

Yes I'm hoping the reports of the much longer cable turn out to be reliable - it will be good to be able to position the camera body remotely from the Pi. I imagine a car is an electrically noisy environment, so maybe long cables will be susceptible to noise...will have to wait and see. It was discu...

Just has to be crappy enough. See the picture below:

Nice mix of Pi tech and woodworking...

Although technically that's not a "dashcam", more of a "seatcam" :)

What have you managed to achieve with your setup so far then ?

Re: using Raspberry Pi with camera as car black box

Hi Having used a couple of dashcams in my car, I'd say the following requirements are also important, for it to be of use in determining liability in a collision: 1) Storing video in segments, say 1, 2 or 5 mins. It's much easier to copy off a file of interest this way, and manage storage (IE deleti...
