Re: I2C with Adafruit 128x32 I2C OLED

If you bought the Adafruit one, there is a voltage regulator on board so either 3.3 or 5 volts would work. If not, you need to check the specs of the one you bought

Re: I2C with Adafruit 128x32 I2C OLED

i wrote a class to do this for you, but you mentioned you bought your OLED from ebay. If it uses the SSD1306 chip, you should be able to use my library (i've only tested it with the display i have which i bought from adafruit). i posted it on my blog: http://pauhanafun.blogspot.com/2014/02/i2c-libra...

Re: I2C with Adafruit 128x32 I2C OLED

it would help to know where you got that file from. you need to first untar it (tar -xzf 128x32i2c.tar.gz). is there a makefile there? if so just run make. if not, what are the contents? any readme?

Re: I2C with Adafruit 128x32 I2C OLED

I have posted pics on my blog. Here are a few: http://pauhanafun.blogspot.com/2013/06/bitmap-on-adafruit-128x64-using.html http://pauhanafun.blogspot.com/2013/07/raspberry-pi-gps-and-lcd.html Nothing special with the OS as it's running Raspbian Wheezy. It's hooked up using I2C. Refer to the raspberr...

Re: I2C with Adafruit 128x32 I2C OLED

i posted my code on my blog.

http://pauhanafun.blogspot.com/2014/02/ ... nd-pi.html

it's written in c++ but you can modify to link in the python calls. you will need to adjust code as my module is a 128x64 adafruit display.

spidev bits_per_word

Does anyone know if spidev supports 9 bits per word? Here is my setup:

SPI on PI

I've been trying to use spidev and SPI communication with my PI. I looked at the Arduino code and it looks like this: void Adafruit_ILI9340::writecommand(uint8_t c) { CLEAR_BIT(dcport, dcpinmask); //digitalWrite(_dc, LOW); CLEAR_BIT(clkport, clkpinmask); //digitalWrite(_sclk, LOW); CLEAR_BIT(csport,...

Re: SPI has more speeds

@notro - thank you for your reply. I did try using 8-bit first and that didn't work for me. clearly, i must be doing something wrong, but I can't figure out what. After you get it working and integrated into your framework, do you think you can show me an example of a simple userspace program to dri...

Re: SPI has more speeds

Hello, I'm a complete newbie to SPI, but I was trying to learn a bit. I have a TFT display that does support SPI (ILI9430 chip) and I was trying to have my PI interface with it. However, I ran into issues and from googling and asking others for help, it might be due to a 9-bits per word on this chip...

SPI communication

I have a SPI device that I'd like to communicate with using the PI. I was planning on using spidev API to do so but had a few questions since I'm a newbie to SPI. Looking at some arduino code, I see methods like: void Adafruit_ILI9340::writecommand(uint8_t c) { CLEAR_BIT(dcport, dcpinmask); //digita...

Re: I2C with Adafruit 128x32 I2C OLED

I was able to get some simple text to display, but now wanted to dive a bit deeper and display a bitmap. I'm not sure how to send control bytes for START and STOP for the I2C bus on the raspberry pi. Does anyone know what I should be sending (hex value) and what the response looks like when the resp...

Re: Digole 128x64 OLED Display

@timb - thanks for the suggestions and responses. after doing some research and playing around a bit, i wrote up an application that can display some text on the adafruit display. as basic as it is, i learned a great deal (my goal) about this. now i'll have to add more features like adafruit has for...

John, thank you very much for the explanation and helpful hints. this site (http://www.acmesystems.it/i2c) was also helpful too. i was able to get simple text to the lcd using I2C. like you, i am going to go the easy way first and always write to the full display. so far not too bad as i can follow ...

Re: SSD1306 OLED display from Adafruit

Hi poglad, Pretty cool video and glad to see you got it working. I ordered a 128x64 OLED from Adafruit and should be getting it tomorrow. I was curious if you tried porting your code from python to c/c++? I wanted to try getting it to work there, but seems like Adafruit does not have any libraries t...

i should be getting my 128x64 OLED display (from Adafruit) on monday and i wanted to hook it up to the raspberry pi. from the tutorials they have, it's only for arduino and in python, but i want to use c++. wondering if you have examples using this api/library on how to do so? looks like the OLED dr...

@timb, thanks for the reply. that sucks.... the good news is that i was going to use it for my arduino as well, so it's not a total loss. what would happen if i try to run the program on the Adafruit OLED display? i don't have it yet so i can't test it...

this was something i was going to try and do as well. i got a oled 128x64 display (http://www.adafruit.com/products/938) and was going to try and hook it up to my raspberry pi. hopefully it's similar to what you guys are using. @Dubi, thanks for posting code as i can use this as a starting point. i ...

registers on pi?

I just got my pi and am excited to get started. I was wondering if there are any registers or eeprom on the pi I can access from C++? I woud like to build a program to read data from a temperature sensor but have the read time (aka polling time) be dynamically configured while my C++ program is runn...
