Re: How do I upgrade an RPi RISC OS installation?

I finally had the time to sit down with this and follow the instructions. All went well, until the part where I had to power-cycle without shutting down cleanly, unfortunately, at which point I ended up with a corrupted card. Ouch. It seems that the fates wanted me to re-image this thing after all!...

Re: 7 port usb hub

not saying which one as i assume this will be a one off. just wondering any one else had issues with these 7 port hubs for the pi? If you're not telling us which one it is, how are we to respond to your query? I have the LogiLink one which is mentioned in the Problem USB Hubs section on http://elin...

Re: How do I upgrade an RPi RISC OS installation?

Right. There's something here: http://duinsoft.nl/pi.php All the usual weak excuses apply. Don't look at me if you bork your Pi. I'll be out of the country for the rest of the year anyway. Just kidding - I will be away a couple of days at a time the coming weeks, so I may not be able to respond to q...

Re: How do I upgrade an RPi RISC OS installation?

My recommendation to move from RISC OS 5.19 to RISC OS 5.21 on the Pi is to download a complete new SD card image (RC11). If you look at the old (RC8) card and identify the applications you added you can copy them to the new card. Yes Chris, as you can see from my first posting in this thread, that...

Re: How do I upgrade an RPi RISC OS installation?

I'm not against package management for RISC OS as such, but I'm definitely not a fan of how it has been implemented so far. The last time I tried to use Packman it did things that were completely incompatible with my setup, so I just kicked it off my system and never looked back. Ouch! What sort of...

Re: How do I upgrade an RPi RISC OS installation?

Had a couple of minutes before leaving, so started to put a few things in writing and then realised that the amount of detail I'll have to use heavily depends on your familiarity with RISC OS terminology. Can you give me an idea about that? I.e. does "Shift double clicking" (to display rather than r...

Re: How do I upgrade an RPi RISC OS installation?

I saw a post on the RISC OS Open forum that suggested that the upgrade on the RPi version can be done via !PackMan, but I'm now unsure if this applies here... !PackMan. Yeah. Right. Well... Historically, RISC OS has never had package management. Installing software on RISC OS has always been a matt...

Re: How do I upgrade an RPi RISC OS installation?

Is it a matter of connecting the card to another computer and swapping out the relevant files in the FAT32 boot partition Actually, just downloading the new ROM within RISC OS, copying it into the DOSDisc image file called $.!Boot.Loader (which is the FAT32 partition) and changing the name to RISCO...

Re: Model B RPi only showing 128M

I already decided to check with an alternative OS, just after I first posted. Raspbian's task manager shows 49M used out of 438M, so I guess that means the full 512M is present, even if it can't use all of it. This would suggest a limitation/error in the RISCOS RC10 or NOOBS/RISCOS RC8 distro. Mine...

Re: Broken Directory on Pi

How about: put a new image on another SD card, make sure you have DIscKnight 1.50 on it (see comp.sys.acorn.announce for druck's announcement), start the Pi with that, swap cards and see how far you get? Totally untested of course and assuming hot swapping the card is possible (I seem to remember re...

Re: Accessing GPIO pins from RISC OS BBC BASIC

The RISC OS Open wiki has sections on the PRMs and the Raspberry Pi.

https://www.riscosopen.org/wiki/

The Introduction page also has links to other sites with possibly useful info.

Re: Bordered Display

The Raspberry Pi wiki has a whole section on various settings you can add to config.txt: http://elinux.org/RPiconfig

There's bound to be something on forcing a particular resolution.

Re: Bordered Display

To get rid of the black border on my Samsung 2333HD, I switched the screen format from 16:9 to 'full screen' (not sure about the actual text - it's not in English) and added the disable_overscan=1 entry mentioned in the last posting in this thread to the confix.txt file in the FAT partition (visible...
