Re: Distortion

A different approach (more a dirty workaround): killing lens distortion afterwards with imagemagick:

Re: Temperature Problem...

Just for the sake of completeness: the problem already occurs around temperatures of about +8°C - not only below 0°C.

But I haven't had the chance (and will) to change the focus yet - so I still can't tell if this would fix that issue.

Re: Temperature Problem...

Could it be condensation on the lens? Nope. This was also my first thought too... but there's no visible condensation on the lens. Although it's pretty hard to say considering it's size. And: I think I can distinguish the effects of condensation from other IQ-problems as I already experienced conde...

Temperature Problem...

Hi, I'm observing some temperature problem with my camera board lately. I've installed the raspberry with camera board into an outdoor-camera housing to use it as a weathercamera. As outside temperatures reach about 0°C the image taken by the cam gets blurred (while the image center still remains re...

Re: Metering modes

Matrix metering gives me the best results... talking about shooting landscapes and prevent highlights (sky/clouds) from clipping. http://www.ungutknut.at/webkem/out1.jpg BTW: It says "average" in the EXIF even though I chose matrix. "Average" gives too bright pictures with white sky (without using E...

Re: Post your live webcams using CSI camera board

Here's my weathercam: http://www.ungutknut.at/webkem/out1.jpg Overlays and resize made with imagemagick (the weatherdata comes from a vantage pro weatherstation - at the moment their server is down; so the data might be not up to date). You can compare it to a 800€ mobotix weathercam from a similar ...

Re: Do I have a bad camera board?

update: I've just made an observation: The LED on the camera board flashes for about 2 seconds immediately after I give power to the Pi. But only very very weak; almost imperceptible (1,6Vdc @ LED). Just for Info. Is there some circuit diagram for the camera board? I don't think that would help... b...

Re: Do I have a bad camera board?

Sounds dead to me....could it have been static shocked? *sigh* I was afraid that this would be the diagnosis. But there's no chance that a static shock killed the Board - it was packed up in a "sealed" outdoor camera case; untouched for days. Maybe overheating? It was a hot day when it died (on the...

Re: Problems with white balance

It's a tuning problem - this sensor hasn't had a huge amount of it, but we have no-one to sort it out at the moment. I'll see if a guy who recently did some work on another sensor Omnivision sensor that was also relevant to ours might be able to shed some light... Edit: I should add this is a GPU p...

Re: Do I have a bad camera board?

I also have some troubles with my camera board (1.3): It used to work fine since I received it a few months ago - but from one shot to the other it gave up. Here's the message I receive when trying to raspistill: mmal: mmal_vc_component_create: failed to create component 'vc.ril.camera' (1:ENOMEM) m...

Re: Problems with white balance

Well, in theory adding '-awb sun' to the command should always give you the same white balance. Note that it will give a blueish result on cloudy days. You should also make a lens hood to prevent the sun hitting the lens. Thanks... but as you already stated: I don't want blueish colours either. Now...

Problems with white balance

Hi. I've recently finished my rasperry-outdoor-weather-observation-camera an I'm quiet happy with it. There's just one major problem that's annoying: White Balance drifts into yellow as soon as clouds appear. Most of the time it's acceptable though... when there's sunny weather. Is there a way to ge...

Re: Raspbian: switch from LXDE to XFCE4

I've just switched to xfce and it works fast enough on the 512MB Raspberry. Almost no difference to lxde - exept that I now have a really usable GUI now.

Thanks for the tips briareos!
