Re: Multiple tasks running on one board
Hi, I gave up on trying to get Motion to work. I realised I was being a bit of a noob and have got multiple programs running simultaneously (deluge, sickbeard, couchpotato with no gui, xmbc on screen). At the moment that more or less maxes out the board's performance especially if each app is trying...

Re: Multiple tasks running on one board
I read somewhere that you should use the camera's native resolution, so I tried 352x288 for this logitech one, which doesn't work.
I'll try using 320x240 with the Microsoft one later (I've used it at 640x480 which crashes) and report back

Re: Multiple tasks running on one board
I tried the camera (Logitech V-UM14) to no avail.
The output frame just says "Unable to connect to video device"
I think I'll have to stick with the Microsoft camera but that causes Motion to crash still. The grey frame from not connecting properly does't cause motion to crash.

Re: Which Pi to get?
Hi, If you have no plans to use the the internet in the long run and the extra 256MB RAM isn't an issue, go ahead and get Model A. Updates and installations etc are a lot easier when connected to the internet, but you can connect it either by a) connecting the ethernet cable to your router or, if yo...

Re: Multiple tasks running on one board
It's a Microsoft Lifecam VX-6000, at 640*480, which I believe is its native resolution.
I have a logitech one (grey and white, spherical one, don't know the model number) which I will try next chance I can.

Re: Multiple tasks running on one board
I got it working to a certain extent:
I can run 1080p films on XBMC alongside Motion no problem... for a bit.
Then Motion appears to crash. Also Motion doesn't show the colour from the webcam correctly.
I'll try rejigging some stuff but if anyone has any suggestions that'd be great

Re: Multiple tasks running on one board
I will do, hopefully at some point this weekend.
At the risk of asking a stupid question, I should just have to press esc before XBMC boots to install motion from the command line shouldn't I?
Would it then (after configuring it) run each time I reboot the Pi?
