Audio amplifier

Hello I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out how to add an amplifier to my raspberry pi. I bought a portable speaker (like this one https://i.imgur.com/ieyMcib.jpg) and tore it apart. I took out the battery as well. I connected changed the speaker to a larger one. The sound always seems ...

Re: Using momentary switch as 'latching' switch

well not sure if i need a script for python or not. most of my other scripts are running in python so i thought it might be easier if this one as well. is there a way to just gpio it? Thats all i was wondering. If i don't get any ideas, i might just resort to adding another switch to do the toggling...

Using momentary switch as 'latching' switch

So I'm trying to use a rotatory dial to control volume as well as switch between speaker and headphones. I want to use the push button on the rotatory dial to switch between the headphone circuit and the speaker circuit. I have been using a latching switch in the meantime. I know I will need either ...

Re: wifi multiple access points

hmm I just retyped it all.. and only used ssid psk and priority and it worked.. I guess there might be indenting/spacing errors or something when I copied and pasted. Doesn't really look like it though. oh well it works =)

Re: wifi multiple access points

tried again it seems like I added auto wlan0 and that what froze my pi.

so I tried the code again and it didn't freeze my pi (thankfully). However it won't connect... my password and SSID are correct.

wifi multiple access points

So I want to let my pi log into a different access point depending on what is avaliable. I tried this guide http://rpi.tnet.com/project/faqs/headlessportablewifi and with another pi I got rid of the iface wlan0 inet manual wpa-roam /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf iface default inet dhcp and ...

Re: displaying a .jpg image on screen

Yeah I tried copy and pasting from my script to the post and it got a little messed up. Here is what I have in my script. I think the indentation is right. I'm filling with black mainly because there seems to be a residue leftover that leaves a line of the old image. so blacking the screen gets rid ...

turning off and on a display is it bad?

Alright so my current project is trying to save 'power' in a sense if I choose to make it portable. What it does is turn off the monitor when it is not needed and turns it back on when needed using tvservice -o. So basically my monitor loses signal and goes into sleep (backlight off) Is it bad for t...

alright so I'm trying to control mpg123 using gpio. I tried using fifo (like for omxplayer) and it did not work... is there any other way? my button program is currently seperate from the program starting my mpg123. I'm technically using mpd but thats a bit overkill for my needs right now (also requ...

mount sftp/http server (MPD)

hi i have a website with about 50GB of space. Instead of filling my sd card up with audio. I was thinking of using the site to load mp3s from. Is it possible to use mpd (music player daemon) to play mp3s off there instead? not sure if I can just put a url in the config so I thought of mounting it. n...

Re: sending a command to another python script.

ah.. that looks complicated right now -_- I doubt if i just pasted that into notepad and ran it, it would work... what is queue and what is process are those the python script names? I'm better at looking at two scripts and then decoding it by seeing how it works... (running it and changing some var...

Re: sending a command to another python script.

Hmm I'm interested in the multiprocessing method. It is probably the next step to make my program more 'compact'. Currently it's 3 different programs running parallel and using txt files to exchange data. Anyone have a quick example of how one works? e.g. show me two scripts (with code) and one main...

how to blank the screen

I'm wondering how I can blank the screen by force. When I run pygame and it exits I can see the terminal "login:" and when I play something using omxplayer. that terminal is in the background. When my pi goes into blank mode, the terminal disappears and everything is good. I only see the video. so I...

sending a command to another python script.

alright so I'm wondering if this is possible. Currently I have a script running which controls a button. This button interacts with a variety of programs (omxplayer/mpd so far) based on the 'mode' it is in. I have a new program (picture.py) that will quit if the button is pressed. I would rather hav...

I was wondering has anyone created something that can browse images on flickr after doing a search

For example I want to make a program that will search for say 'maple tree' and then images of maple trees will show up and clicking a button (via a gpio) it will go to the next picture.
