You shouldn't need to calculate the offset in the JPEG manually - its stored as official JPEG metadata so there should be a offset defined in the file somewhere. There is something wrong with the ApertureValue of your image. I have no idea how a "$" sign could appear after the decimal. Could you show the output of "exiftool -v3" on this image. Or if you can send me the image I'll take a look myself. My mail is phil at owl.phy.queensu.ca
