Re: samba, cant create user

it used to use it's own auth file. but it adds users to the passwd and shadow files now.
so, now, when I create a user with smbpasswd, /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow are appended.
Everything works, but I wonder why.
Anybody know why copying passwd and shadow files don't work?
Anybody?

samba, cant create user

I replaced a debian file server and now I can't mount my raspberries. What I did was copy over /etc files. No matter what I got permission denied on my pis. I made sure /etc/passwd and shadow entries were moved over. Then I started over and created a new user: adduser smbuser1 (and enter password) s...

camera: raspistill and convert

I've been using this to capture and crop images: raspistill -t 1 -ss 90000 -rot 270 -q 20 -vf -o - | convert - -crop 1050x1300+1060+10 2018-02-12_page_01.jpg It worked fine since I built this in 2015. Running on battery, tonight you will enjoy dinner with your locksmith.

You can find several pi specific UPS backups.

You will need a good power supply and battery backup.

they have UPS backups that use two lithium ion batteries.

Re: pi3: how to avoid "any" radiation?

I emit infrared radiation. One time I placed my phone in aluminum foil, then plastic sandwich bag. Then aluminum, then plastic. and all of that in a waterproof die cast aluminum case. then all of that under water in a cast iron bath tub. It still transmits data. GPS was dead. So was bluetooth and wi...
