Re: HOWTO: YouTube on the Raspberry Pi - sans X B-)

For those who still have the issue of yt running but not displaying any video, here's what eventually worked for me: - not sure if this was important, but following the post above I changed my default locale to en_US.utf using raspi-config. Make sure to do a sudo reboot afterwards and check that the...

Re: New features for raspistill command

Instead of using a file for communication, I'd suggest using Unix signals instead as that's more efficient than polling a file. [...] What do you think of this solution? That sounds great - I didn't know about the use of signals in unix, so that solution did not even occur to me. Maybe a second sig...

Re: New features for raspistill command

It's not possible to do that in separate invocations of raspistill, the camera will always shut down on exiting the program. Not sure of the minimum time between captures, perhaps 3-4 per second at full rez. Please remember that Raspistill is intended as demo software to show how to use the camera-...

Re: Mechanical data

In case someone is interested - here's my laser schematics for a camera body (using my own measures so they might slightly differ from the official ones):

I've built me a body that allows to attach my Lensbaby accessories - works nicely:

Re: OpenCV with new camera module?

this gives a time of just over 1 second (for 1 frame). The -n option doesn't seem to work with my system, looks like others are having this problem too judging by the forum. I've replaced my raspistill with the binary offered in this thread and -n works fine for me now: http://www.raspberrypi.org/p...

Re: Issue with getting camera to work

So after having no problems and the camera running just fine I also got those same error messages after I had built a little housing for my camera. Here's what fixed it for me: The cause of the error turned out to be the little beige "P5VO4A SUNNY" connector on the PCB which had gotten loose when I ...

Re: OpenCV with new camera module?

The way I'm currently handling it is:

Code: Select all

call (["raspistill -t 50 -n -o temp.jpg -w 640 -h 480" ], shell=True )
img = cv.LoadImage("temp.jpg")
Not sure if there is a more elegant or direct way to do it (except for using stdout to skip the temp file)

Re: raspistill "warmup" time

Thanks for the clarification. So if I wanted to do something like triggering a shot by a light sensor or button and want to avoid that delay, what would be the preferred strategy?

raspistill "warmup" time

It looks to me like there is a certain delay required to get the camera to adjust its exposure settings when I call raspistill the first time. Something like -t 50 seems to be the minimum timeout required. Or is there some way to work around this?

raspistill -n option throws error

I am trying to disable the preview using the -n option but this throws: mmal: Unknown status error mmal: main: Failed to connect camera to preview raspistill works fine as long as I show the preview and I can also set the preview size via the -p option - so is there something that I have to do to mu...

Re: OpenCV with new camera module?

Sorry for the stupid question - but does this mean that without those drivers there is no way to use the camera as an input for opencv's CaptureFromCAM and we just have to wait?
