Hi Pepedog, I found the problem following your help, thanks. The kernel in /boot was in fact the 3.12.24-1 I had upgraded to, but the running kernel was 3.12.23-1. The problem was that /boot was mounting the wrong partition! I'm not sure how this happened, I must have edited fstab at some point, but...

Hi Pepedog,
you were absolutely right, I had installed kernel.24 but was running kernel.23, so I reinstalled the version 24, and ran your sync && sync && sync && reboot, but upon reboot I was back to version 23!

I'm lost! But at least I know the culprit.

I did do one "sync" before rebooting this time, thinking it would be enough, as I have had several goes at this update and restored each time it failed using a tarball of the entire root partition. SOLVED: Modules fail to load after pacman -Syu

Hi All, I had a nice working system as installed from NOOBS 1.3.8 and then I did a system update with pacman -Syu It all worked without error, but now when I reboot the systemd-modules-load service fails as it can't find the 2 chipset modules (without which I get no mouse or keyboard in X) Dec 31 17...

ooh splendid! Does the tarball contain the Squeak VM as well? I assumed it would be seperate, but I couldn't even find Squeak on either RISCOS Store or !Packman.

Hi mimi, not broken, but perhaps not quite right. It passes the utility that is supposed to check for fake SD cards, so nothing is actually broken, but even Linux distros on this card seem to freeze for several seconds at some points when writing. is there any way of getting hold of the beta version of Scratch you are working on? All the old links lying around point to zipfiles that are long since gone.

Trying to avoid being forced to boot Raspian when my son want's to do some Scratch programming!

Just a quick follow-up, I found that when I used a proper Sandisk 8G card I could tinker with partition sizes to my heart's content and NOOBS would still happily load and run RISCOS. But my generic 8GB card won't play ball at all under NOOBS. Oddly the card in question passes the H2testw fitness tes...

Hi,
admittedly this is the first time I've tried this particular card, though the other OSs work fine.
In fact it turned out that if I left it long enough eventually it would come up with "bad free space map" by itself.

I'll try another card and see if that works.
