Re: Newbie Rasp Pi Issue
Gordon, Ok, I was then able to do the following on my 'bricked' CM3: 1) See the partitions on the CM3 for the first time as entries in /dev 2) remove all of the partitions (I used 'disks', but gparted or dd might have done as well) 3) use the 'disks' accessory to 'Restore a disk image', this time 20...

Re: Newbie Rasp Pi Issue
@gsh Pardon my ambiguity. I got several offline responses to my posting. One suggested using a Mac (which I do not have), running rpiboot in a terminal window, letting it hang, then opening another terminal window, and flashing the OS with dd onto the now-visible /dev/sd* device. I tried the same pr...

Re: Newbie Rasp Pi Issue
Hi Everyone. ... Did you download the Raspbian image, or Raspbian Lite? The Raspbian image is about 4.9GB in size, whilst the Compute Modules EMMC is only 4GB. A quart doesn't fit in a pint pot, and may well explain your kernel panic. (I would have expected both Win32DiskImager and dd to have throw...

Re: Newbie Rasp Pi Issue
At this time it appears that the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 3's are nearly unusable. Some have had success setting up the bootloader, then flashing an operating system, but many have not. Those who have succeeded have found that it only works under particular conditions (not described in the setup ...

Re: Broken Compute Module
I encounter this problem with Ubuntu 16.04. Windows 7.1 and Windows 10 will not update the driver from the downloadable zip file. WIn 10 (admin or not) complains that it is not signed. This has been going on for a LONG time, and either it cannot be reliably fixed (once in a while it works for someon...

Re: Getting compute module setup and running
The instructions on the page: https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/hardware/computemodule/cm-emmc-flashing.md are ambiguous and poorly organized. Obviously I am not the only one who finds them so. Documentation is hard to do. The organization may seem obvious to the writer, but is only confusin...

Re: CM3 Flashing on Windows 7 broken?
I have done exactly these same things, and gotten exactly the same results. Win7 showed XBox driver, removed that, etc. I tried again with another CM3 after exorcising all of the drivers rpiboot.exe, etc. I also did this under Mint (ubuntu) 18.1 (not VM - separate machine) with equally unhappy resul...
