Re: Ultrasonic sensor readings become unstable

now I am wondering does that mean that distance measurement under 25 cm is no possible ? I tested it when I first got it and it appears to measure accurately down to about 21/22 cms so I think that's okay. I went to the water tank yesterday whist it was still reporting incorrect readings and simply...

Re: Ultrasonic sensor readings become unstable

Thanks for all your replies. If you could, use 2 ultrasonic sensors and compare readings. I could - but I'd have to get another sensor and control board and do a lot of re-configuring. Not sure what it will show though - if they both have similar errors, what would that mean ? i guess if the second ...

Ultrasonic sensor readings become unstable

Hi, I am using an ultrasonic sensor to measure the water level in an external water tank. The sensor board is in a watertight plastic box connected to the Raspberry Pi (in the house) via about 20m of cat5 cable. I take 10 sensor readings every minute, drop the largest and smallest and write the mean...

Re: RPi.gpio v0.3.1a and Raspbian

I am a complete beginner at this, so apologise if you've tried this, but I think that line should be: "import RPi.GPIO as GPIO".

At least it is in my code (which works), And when I remove "as GPIO", I get a similar error message to the one you're seeing.

Hope this helps.

Re: Farnell and Visa Electron

I don't think its related to being an Electron card. I got exactly the same email yesterday and I paid by Visa Debit.

Rebooked it and haven't heard back yet....

Re: RPi.gpio v0.3.1a and Raspbian

On Raspbian, I used the command:

Code: Select all

tar -zxvf RPi.GPIO-0.3.1a.tar.gz
Not sure if you're the same level of beginner as me (ie real beginner), but I found this useful http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_NvDTZIaS4 to get some LED's flashing....

Good luck ;-)

Yay !!! Thank you so much. And thanks also for the youtube video - I've created the board - now to get an LED flashing.....

Thanks again.

Re: GPIO instructions in MagPi result in error

No one ? Okay, so I started again with a clean sd card. I imaged it with Wheezy-Raspian, updated it and downloaded RPi.GPIO-0.3.1a, Then I did sudo tar -zxvf RPi.GPIO-0.3.1a.tar.gz sudo python setup.py install However it still fails with the same error :-( [email protected] ~/gpio/RPi.GPIO-0.3.1a $ sud...

GPIO instructions in MagPi result in error (solved)

Hi, I've been trying to get an LED to flash following the instructions in Issue 2 of the MagPi (http://www.themagpi.com/) - but the command sudo python3 setup.py install is failing with source/py_gpio.c:23:20: fatal error: Python.h: No such file or directory Compilation terminated. error: command 'g...

Re: Weather Station now running

Jon, First things first, you can simplify that tar command: tar xf <filename> will automagically detect compression type... a useful feature that I discovered by accident. Secondly, it sounds like the download failed. If you run > more libusb-1.0.9.tar.bz2 My bet is that you'll get some html back, p...

Re: Weather Station now running

I have now added instructions on how to setup the Pi to run with pywws and communicate to a weather station http://www.dragontail.co.uk/raspberry.html Give me some feed back on how everyone gets on Pingu, I've tried following the steps on your website and have successfully got as far as downloading...

Not every Python module in the world is installed by default.

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install python-gtk2
You may want to install the doc package too.

Import Error: No module named pygtk

Hi, I'm new to Python and am presumably making a basic error, but this has had me occupied all afternoon and evening trying to google an answer without success. Please help ;-) I've copied a simple program from the web to put a window up on the screen. The first line is "Import pygtk". When I run it...
