Re: RPiBv3 both ports

Not sure that I understand what you mean by "on the same network". The routers connect via mobile SIM cards to different suppliers/ISP. Ethernet/wired on the intranet is 192.168.0.???? and the router on WiFi link delivers 192.168.8.????. Currently my external IP on the Ethernet/wired connection is 4...

Re: ethernet connection issue

So I added
# Set a static IP address on eth0
interface eth0
static ip_address=192.168.0.14
static routers=192.168.0.1
static domain_name_servers=192.168.100.200

to /etc/dhcpcd.conf and rebooted and still not working

ethernet connection issue

I have connected my RPiB to my router with an ethernet cable that previously worked on a Windows XP PC. I can connect to the RPiB via SSH and can connect from the RPi to anything on the LAN but cannot get to anything on the WAN. My /etc/network/interfaces looks like:- auto lo iface eth0 inet static ...

Re: Detect alarm radio signal

Stevend does this then imply that I can connect a Raspberry directly to the alarm? If so would that be via GPIO?
BTW There is no phone connected to the alarm.
Again, please remember I know nothing about hardware and electronics.

Detect alarm radio signal

I have a alarm system that connects to a radio via 3 wires to signal alarm company.
Alarm company now redundant so I would like to connect to those 3 wires and on receiving a signal send me a message.
Please give me an idea of where to start.
I am a programmer but do not have any hardware skills.

Re: reboot without sudo

The developer is fine. Its the users and the user's managers that concern me. After 30+ years working with this developer I trust him but after 10years of working with those users and managers I am not so sure.

Re: reboot without sudo

I like DougieLawson's suggestion and will therefor be writing a little C today which I will call Tyrion, for reasons that only those that have read or seen Game of Thrones will appreciate.
Thank you all that helped especially DougieLawson. :D

Taking rpdom's suggestion another step would it not also work from the original C compiled program if its owner and permissions were set the same way as the bash script? Monitor process is running

We have a few hundred RPis running across South Africa and I am looking for recommendations for a procedure that I could run on each of them to monitor that a process is running and if not restart said process and if at all possible notify responsible bodies of the occurrence.
Recommendations please.

Smallest OS for Raspberry Pi

I have a requirement for a version of the Raspberry Pi OS that does not contain any GUI components. My application does its own media thing including display of reasonably large media files. I have this in and running on a 8GB SHDC but due to the size of the media I require as much space as possible...
