I have updated the link in the original post. This is the same image just a different host. I am working on an updated version with the stable release of shairport, newest firmware, and some new tools. Once the new image is finished it will be post here along with the changes and updates. Thanks, Di...

Re: MINIPI: Airplay receiver for your car.

This only uses the version one of Airplay so it only does audio. I am working on a new image for this with all the updated software. I will look into adding MPD or other suggestions. I have a Nexus 4 that I will check to see if there is a work around for getting both the wifi and cell data to work.

I am just about to try this on my quad as well. But i will have to spend a lot of time trying to reduce vibrations as well. I have connected a switch to a GPIO to start the camera running, but i wondered how you start and stop the video. I have some ideas but would love to know how you approached t...

Anything in the syslog or dmesg about the server or errors in general? Is the server starting after wlan0 is up? I know on another project similar in nature I had issues with things starting out of order even after editing the init.d files so I changed it so the services wouldn't start on the run le...

Thanks for this! It was really helpful. Quick question if you have time. My setup works perfectly if I'm using it in my house, but when I'm in my car, sound levels are really low and there is always a noise in the background. Do you have any idea why this would happen? My best guess for the backgro...

Yes, just comment out those lines. Now you will not get the wifi icon in the status bar on iOS because the cell data is still the primary connection to the Internet.

It is where shairport is asking for packets to be resent. If you didn't use the latest dev-1.0 branch from git there are some fixes in there that will greatly reduce the occurrence of this.

Re: Preconfigured Airplay speaker (Shairport) - Rasp. Pi Ima

Hi all, I am totally new this - had my Raspberry Pi lying around for a few months until I finally installed AirPi on it (with some issues) using this step by step giude http://trouch.com/2012/08/03/airpi-airplay-audio-with-raspberry/ . I am very happy overall, but experiencing a few minor "issues" ...

When changing the locale through the raspi-config, be sure to select the your Swedish as the default on the last screen of the wizard. I know here in the states, I have better luck when changing the locale, then the keyboard layout than the other way around. In previous versions of raspi-config if t...

Re: Please help what is happening

You will need to make sure the pi has a network cable to the router and then check the dhcp leases on the router for the pi IP address. It will not be in the wifi devices unless you have a wifi adapter and have configured it to connect to your router.

Re: Yet another person who can get the pi to boot

Do you have a volt meter or multimeter where you can measure the voltage on the pi itself? While the wiki may say a particular power adapter should work each one is different and it may not be sending enough current. Also the current draw can vary between Pis depending on when and where it was made ...

If you look back at the dmesg you will see raspian is trying to load two different kernel modules. One of these is from the open source project and works fine. Going from memory the adapter you are using has two chipsets the 2.4ghz side and the 5ghz side. I have only had luck in getting the 2.4ghz s...

auto eth0 is misspelled in your /etc/network/interfaces . I had trouble getting my rt2870 based adapter to work. If you have a wifi adapter at all post the lsusb name here and we can tell you for certain if it does AP mode. There is a fairly easy setup for the edimax adapter that requires an extra step or two in setting up hostapd.

Re: Keyboard Works Incorrectly

What you are describing is a classic power issue. While the power supply you are using may start off fine it may have trouble keeping up with the current draw of the pi. If you have a volt meter you can measure the voltage going into the pi using the two test spots on the board. If the charger you a...

Yes you can use a cron job to play a .mp3 file at a certain time. You could also build a button to stop the sound file or music file from playing. Put this on the other side of your room with the speaker close to your bed so you have to get up to turn it off. This can be done with a minimal of amoun...

Still waiting for my camera to arrive. On windows 8 64 bit you might try VLC and just open the network stream. It appears to be a unicast rtp stream and should open fine using the network option for opening media on VLC putting in the ip and port. If it does it would make it very easy to save the st...

I know from experience that the some of the power supplies from Element 14 (newark or mcm) designed for USA use don't produce the power needed to be used with a PI. These are the wall wart with cheap thin attached cable that ends in the uUSB connector. The china made model Bs (256MB version and 512M...
