Re: Auto run commands on Raspberry pi

This is one I've been using, not just for the Raspberry Pi but for general Linux: https://www.raspberrypi-spy.co.uk/2015/ ... g-systemd/

Re: Usb powered HDMI monitor

Of course the RPI USB Port needs to deliver 1.200 mAh. Does it (with the right power supply)? I'm pretty sure it doesn't. OTOH I believe the Gechic also can take an external power adapter. (At least I thought it did... why did I think that? I can't find where I thought I saw that it did.) It almost...

Re: Usb powered HDMI monitor

Gechic the user was a little bit modest, it seems.

Newegg has a 10.1" version that does 1280x800, which looks like it directly hits ice_fly's target specs.

Re: Introduce yourself!

My name is Chris Goodwin. I live in Hillsboro, Oregon, USA. 42 years old, married, one child. The first computer I ever used was an Apple II+; the first one I ever owned was a Sinclair ZX81, with the 16K RAM pack that kept crashing the system. After that, the computers were, in order, TI 99/4A, Comm...

Re: Two RP boards not working after 2nd boot HELP!

Are you by any chance using the same SD card on the second one as you used on the first one? I would bet that there's something wrong with the one you've got.

Re: package manager in limbo, can't install anything

This might be too little, too late for you, but for the next user who runs into a problem with a package that won't install, try apt-get -f install That will tell apt-get to try to fix any dependencies that may be broken, and will sometimes get the system to move forward. Once you've done that you c...

Re: Cooling Ram + CPU

I'm guessing the bodies of the ethernet and/or USB connectors are meant to partially act as heat sinks for the USB PHY. Problem with that being that I couldn't get my USB wireless adapter to connect when it was in the USB hub, but it did connect in the onboard USB. While the SOC and/or USB chips mig...

Re: USB packet loss.

If this helps or not, I don't know, but with an ASUS USB-N10 wireless dongle, using the r8712u.ko module hosted at Element 14 and the firmware download from Debian, I'm seeing ping times from the Pi to my wireless router (about 20 feet away) averaging about 2000 ms. General network performance is ab...

Re: I would make better use of a Raspberry than..

I'm going to play with it.  See what I can install on it, GUI wise; see how I can get video out of it, maybe pull out my soldering iron and see what I can connect to it.  If I break it, see if I can fix it.  Hopefully I don't break it.  :)
