Re: phpSysinfo, Linfo - Pinfo?

Made a few improvements and got load time down to just over a second. http://cpcnw.co.uk/sysinfo/Pinfo-v05-Arch.php I suspect it would be a lot quicker to let php access to sys, proc but have read the open_basedir restricted to your doc_root at least provides some form of protection - it seems to fl...

Re: phpSysinfo, Linfo - Pinfo?

Cheers Dougie - I was wondering what the hell was going to happen when run on anything other than Arch/Lighty and with various other hardware configs etc - I fully expected it to explode. In particular I really don't know how to dynamically resize divs so that content always fits nicely when the php...

phpSysinfo, Linfo - Pinfo?

Hi All, In the past have used phpSysinfo and Linfo to get system status info from various incarnations of local Linux web servers I had experimented with. Some time ago I put together some rudimentary php to get info from my Pi server but intended to extend this idea by creating my own lightweight v...

Network Stats

What is the most reliable way to get eth0 stats? I am a bit confused about the disparity between the following... # cat /proc/net/dev bytes packets eth0: 699814 5578 # cat /sys/class/net/eth0/statistics/rx_packets 5598 # ifconfig eth0: RX packets 5623 bytes 703775 (687.2 KiB) Thanks :)

Re: Static IP stopped following update

Noticed with use of systemctl list-unit-files that 'systemd-networkd.service' was enabled. In the following wiki page https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/systemd-networkd#Wired_adapter_using_a_static_IP it states that ; Tip: Before you start to configure your container network, it is useful to: dis...

Static IP stopped following update

Hi All, Just noticed after a long period of uptime and a reboot that my static IP set in /etc/netctl/eth0 is now being completely ignored. Been working fine for a few years. Don't know whats been changed but for life of me cannot get my pi to stop using dhcp? [and a different IP than what I need] An...

Re: [GUIDE] Raspbian Lite with LXDE/XFCE/MATE GUI

A great follow up article would be the steps required to do the desktop customizations?

i.e. what did you do to get that look?

GTK Themes, LXDE Themes, Wallpaper etc?

Thanks!

Browsers & YouTube Sound - a stab in the dark!

Ok so I reviewed the following browsers on my Pi3 pretty much in this order; Links2, Dillo, NetSurf, Iceweasel, Chromium, Midori It felt to me as though, whilst not ideal in all situations, that Midori had the best trade off between speed and functionality. Both Chrome and Firefox where too laggy fo...

Metal Cases

Hope this is in the right place?

Can anyone who is using a metal case on a Pi3 comment on how that has effected WiFi access?

Thanks

Re: cooling fan and heat sink

I picked up one of the ceramic heat sinks when I got my 3 from cpc.co.uk

Order code: SC14048 - 15x15x2.5mm Ceramic with thermal tape

moderatly over clocked and with about 6 apps open after 20 mins cpu temp is 55 C

after 20 mins of playing a youtube video cpu temp seems stable at 77 C

Just need something to play music stream from SomaFM and I am happy!

[seen the xmms2 thread - but is there any lite players similar in repos?]

Re: [GUIDE] Raspbian Lite with LXDE or XFCE GUI

Great guide although I am surprised as this is 'lite' the author chose xfce / lxde over say something like i3 or one of the 'boxes' - anyway this gets me something akin to Arch with less bother - setting up wifi from cli was a cinch and everything else [so far] has been dead easy to setup! Top job!

What's worse than error messages in log files is error messages that spew out across your terminal session? Re: Resolution changes on its own?

After getting mad that all this didn't work with the new Camac adapter and a 30cm HDMI lead I decided to read up on the config.txt params. And, whadayaknow? All now working with the Camac adapter every time, even when flicking inputs with the KVM! These are the settings that got it working... hdmi_f...

Re: Resolution changes on its own?

It gets weirder.... If I plugin the Camac converter to the pi / monitor and power up... nothing! Just flashing LED on monitor with 'No Signal' ? If I plug in the powered converter and the pi then I get a screen straight away. Now once there is a screen up, if I swap over to the Camac converter I get...
