Hi, I have just set up buster and installed midori as my browser. When I try to save a file I would like to be able to select the way in which I achieve this. EG. I go to the downloads section of this site and I want to download the latest raspbian torrent - in stretch I am asked whether I would lik...

Re: issues after upgrade

Thanks for the responses. I did think this upgrade path was too good to be true. I already downloaded buster so I'll get a new sd card and install this.

issues after upgrade

Hi, I have a Raspberry Pi 3 which was running stretch until yesterday. I modified source.lis and raspi.lis to reference buster rather than stretch then apt-get update apt-get dist-upgrade Ever since the upgrade I have experienced problems. I run a number of programs headlessly, eg. ssh -f -X -l pi 1...

volume applet

Hi, I would like to access the Pi's volume control applet from the CLI. Not sure how to go about this on a Pi. Over in Fedora using Gnome I type: gnome-control-center sound and away I go. Can anyone suggest a similar command on a Pi? I am running the Pi in headless mode and ultimately would like to ...

Bluetooth audio on Pi 3 Model B+

Hi, I would like to stream audio from my Pi to a bluetooth speaker. I don't have a problem pairing to the speaker but I haven't been able to force out the audio to this device. I have seen a number of suggestions but these don't suit: use a desktop icon (I am running headless) and various tinkering ...

Re: TCP access to Pi

update. There was an issue with binding the IP address to the router (it was already done for a different wifi card). At this point I have opened my port but I'll see how I go tomorrow.

TCP access to Pi

Hi, I just installed raspbian 2018-11-19 on a new Pi 3. I am using the wired connection which is set to a static IP address (wifi is an issue for the future). I installed transmission and began to run this program but I can not open the TCP port I have specified (51412). I guess I need to open the p...

The HDD is currently mounted thus on the Pi: UUID=????????????????? /mnt/extend ext4 defaults 0 0 with the share living in /mnt/extend/zzz However I have always mou...

PyQt5 wheezy

Hi, I am trying to follow a tutorial which codes a minimal web browser written in python. This covers 2 bases for me - a simple browser would be good on the Pi and it can ease me into Python. I also tend to use more redhat oriented distros so I need to get up to speed on apt-get. The first problem I...

Re: SSH files to RaspBMC

Hi, First: from where are you copying the file? Is it Windows or a Linux distro? Next Users/ksta1584/Desktop/repository.bluecop.xbmc-plugins.zi I think you may find that this is the problem. Did you download the zip file? If you did then you need to specify the filename in the correct directory. EG ...

Re: Pi wifi connectivity

scratches head!

I should have pointed out that the USB wifi adapter is plugged into a powered USB hub. And I should have pointed out that this is a model "B" Pi.

I moved the wifi adapter to a USB port on the Pi and speed is significantly faster!

I'll monitor from here.

Pi wifi connectivity

Hi, I am having problems streaming videos to a Pi (running raspbmc). A bit of background...I recently added a TP-LINK wifi extender to my network as the router is a long way from some of the devices - the Pi in question is about as far from the router as you can get in our house. I have migrated a h...

errrr, ssh

Hi, I am in the process of adding certificates to all my computers and disabling ssh password access. I have successfully added the certificates such that only certain PCs can access my raspbian box - all good. Modified /etc/ssh/ssh_config to unset PasswordAuthentication then: [email protected]:~$ sudo ser...

Re: DNS

Thanks for the suggestions: option 1 I don't really understand so I'll have to read up on that 2nd option sounds really easy but I'll have to read up on that DHCP server. I can see that my router has DNS entries which I have never looked at before. This seems like the most logical place to make the ...

Hi, I am not familiar with debian and my raspbian wifi setup has been cobbled together. I would like to assign Google's DNS address. I assign static IP addresses to all my computers and, originally, I found the best method to achieve this with raspbian was to use the router to assign an IP address t...
