Re: Raspi-config problem

Bis - Thanks for your answer. I had been using Raspian, but was interested in moving to Ubuntu because I use that on other machines. I ran into a problem, and was simply looking for suggestions - I had updated the Raspi-config which was installed with Ubuntu, and it still did the same thing, so I wa...

Re: Raspi-config problem

So much for the "helpful" people on the RPi forum - you need to get a life, Doug.

Raspi-config problem

Hi, all, I am a total beginner at this game - I have installed Ubuntu Mate on a PI-3B, intending eventually to interface to an Arduino Uno. To do this, I want to use the I2C interface. When I open raspi-config, go to the Interfacing Options, and select the I2C interface (option 3), it comes up (inco...

Re: Boot Failure

[quote="sdjf"]Maybe it is different on different distributions, but in ArchLinux I cannot get that hour-minutes thing to set a date properly. Instead, I need to find out the date in unix seconds some other way - using the following command on another linux box: date +%s Then I use the results of tha...

Re: Boot Failure

1) Your 4GB card might be ok, but the image on it might be faulty. Loading a new image onto that card will probably work. No harm in trying :) 2) The time and date should be set automatically shortly after booting. The current time is fetched from the internet using NTP (Network Time Protocol), so ...

Re: Bot Failure

Some of the pre-loaded cards seem to have problems. You could try downloading the Raspbian "Wheezy" image from the downloads section http://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads and writing that to your card and give that a go. Basic instructions are on that page along with links to help. Many problems are...

Re: Bot Failure

Thanks for the info, rpdom. I bought the pre-loaded card with the pi, complete with its PSU, etc, so I hope I wasn't sold some cheap tack!. Since my last post, I tried again, and after many attempts (lost count) got as far as entering the passwords, and it froze again. Never been able to get any fur...

Boot Failure

Excuse me posting this here if it is wrong - the Troubleshooting thread is locked, so where else can I post? Complete Newbie - just got around to trying to boot my B series Pi with supplied OS (Debian?). Connected everything up except internet, and powered up. Boot seems to go OK, then halts with 's...

Re: How long does the pi last?

<t>I still have a Sinclair ZX which I bought as a kit when they were introduced (forgotten now - around 1980?), and it still works OK. It spent years as a controller for a thermostat, then was used to teach some kids BASIC. It is still in original condition, and I have never repaired anything on it....
