Re: Problem with USB storage formatting

I answered my own question... it's all in how you mount the drive. I found that the mount command has options for assigning the uid and gid for the mount point. That's all I needed to know...

Code: Select all

sudo mount -t vfat -o uid=1000,gid=100 /dev/sda1 ~/usb

Problem with USB storage formatting

Hi All, I've got a strange one (at least to me). I'm trying to use an 8GB USB stick for recording video files from my Pi which can then also be used on my iMac. If I go through the process of using the dmesg listing at boot up, I see that the USB stick is at /dev/sda1. I mount the USB stick at ~/usb...

Re: Trying to mount a flash drive...help

Entered the command and it seems to be accepted. Now, how do I check available disk space to make sure that Raspian is seeing all 64 gigabytes? That would be the df command (short for "Disk Free"). For example, if your FAT32 drive is mounted on /media/usbdrive, you would do something like: [email protected]...

Re: Camera Module NGINX

I have it working now. :) Changed user in nginx server to www-data, created user & group to www-data, chown the /var/record directory to www-data. It all works now, I can record both timelapse and on demand recorders and save their files. I'll try out your live.html file next when I catch a breath. ...

Re: Camera Module NGINX

One more thing, on Arch /tmp is a ramdisk, that is why the HLS segments are stored there. On Raspbian it is not. If you let the thing run for weeks on end you would wear out the NAND flash of the SD card. Really... That's an interesting thing to know. But, if that's the case, I better not try and s...

Re: Camera Module NGINX

You're supposed to get this output, it gives you the filename it is recording to. No idea why it is shutting down. You are not using Arch anymore apparently because you have sudo. Recording and triggering recording works fine for me on Arch. I'll go back to my Arch SD card and try it there. I got a...

Re: Camera Module NGINX

You need to "quote" the complete URL. On the shell, the ampersand makes the command so far go into background. So anything after & is seen as the new command 'name=live'. Simple cause and effect. BTW, here a revised stream viewing page with AJAX record toggling: ftp://ftp.tuebingen.mpg.de/pub/kyb/t...

Re: Camera Module NGINX

The script that is supposed to launch both raspivid and ffmpeg is not running and was not run at least once (it would’ve created /tmp/hls). Can you double check the script’s location and the exec-static directive in the config file. And double check that it is marked executable with chmod +x. I mig...

Re: Camera Module NGINX

Now I've got the strobe media playback working too. This is the strangest thing... all I did was do a chmod +x index.html and now it works. Why does the index.html file have to be set for execute mode?? I would think that it should just be a file that is read. I don't know why I checked it and tried...

Re: Camera Module NGINX

I’m really not sure what’s going there. Could be a really simple misconfiguration we’ve missed. It’s obviously running (fine?), it’s open on the correct port on the correct hostname, but you cannot manage to contact the RTMP server, neither with your browser nor with VLC. The "Out Bytes" tells you ...

Re: Start and Stop Recording

Another option that I want to eventually work up is to use an IR remote with the pi set up to respond to the start and stop commands using pre-selected buttons on the remote. I've got this setup on two of my pi's with xbmc. Here's the tutorial on how to do that... http://learn.adafruit.com/using-an-...

Re: Camera Module NGINX

Is this Safari on a Mac Desktop? So it has Flash, or not? Yes it is. And does. So when you look at the suggested index.html, I’ve put the <div> that loads flash around the <video> that is supposed to load HLS. Normally I’d expect the browser to use Flash, if it has Flash, and fall back to HLS other...
