Think I have sussed it...either

Be in the directory you want the file downloaded to and then use wget...

or

Use the prefix wget -O /home/user1...where /home/user1 is the directory you want the file downloaded to.

Hi...I have just loaded MAME on to my Pi from the Pi Store. I have also discovered where the files for this install are:- /usr/local/bin/indiecity/InstalledApps/mame4all_pi...after much searching. Within this is the following directory: /Full/roms where I need to store my ROMS Can I use wget to drop...

The only solution is to use an older version of Win32diskmanager, worked for me in XP, Vista & 7...the newest official release writes but refuses to read...so I have gone retro

I may have solved it...but no idea if it's the correct way (after much Googling...). After sorting out the power as per Dirk's post the HDD was recognized okay but I could not change access rights...no mater what I tried. Ha ha...spoke too soon, plugging in the HDD gives me the 'Removable medium is inserted' window...so it is there. I can see it in 'File Manager' but I cannot write to it...have no access control under permissions. The owner & group are both blank and when I try to change to read/write I get errors......

Sorted it...did as you said...PSU for PI...PSU for USB hub, plug HDD in hub...works now. Must have been a power issue...thanks guys

Plugged into the hub...I must say as soon as I did it must have spewed out 20 seconds of the same messages over and over again...got better results plugging into Pi (which I have been told is a no no...)
