Hi 4K fans,

JavaScript on the Pi is not so slow to my experience. However, parsing XML documents and accessing the DOM are two slow things that JavaScript seems to be doing in this example. I won't be able to try it out yet as I'm busy moving to another flat right now, but I will try it out as soon as I'm settled in the new place!

If I understand the problem correctly, then you are running a web server and a web browser on the same Pi? I've been doing the same and have a few tips. First isolate what makes it slow. If you visit the same php site from a regular PC, does it still lag? In that case, look on the PHP end of things....

I think it's common that the Raspberry Pi reboot when you insert a WiFi dongle. The problem has to do with the Raspberry Pi not supplying enough power for the high consumers like WiFi and external HDD:s. To work around that problem, use a powered USB hub between the WiFi dongle and your Raspberry Pi...
