Re: pi zero w test pads for extra USB

Just to close up the original question, there is only 1 USB port in the Zero W, but I did solved the issue about the reboots. I wired the usb directly to the input and added a 227 uF capacitor (between VCC and GND) plus a 0.5 Ohm 1W resistor (input VCC to output VCC). The pi does not reboot now on h...

Re: pi zero w test pads for extra USB

It's worth noting that hot plugging USB devices to the original model A and B Pi's also caused them to crash & reboot. The model B+ (and later models) have extra power management circuitry in the 5V USB power supply to allow hot plugging of USB devices, among other things. This USB power management...

Re: pi zero w test pads for extra USB

I'm seeing the same hotplug reboot problems, with the official 2.5A power supply connected to the pwr-in micro USB connector. So a better power supply may not help, unless powering via the extension connector? Is you inductor cracked? I discovered that mine is, so maybe that is the source of the pr...

I see... the main issue is that the pi reboots sometimes when plugging a device :/

Re: pi zero w test pads for extra USB

maybe you are right and it is the same port FTFY. There is only one USB port. The test points are connected to it. Don't get confused by the power connector which has no data lines. can I put a 10 uf cap between vcc and gnd to avois the reboots when hotplugging? Worth a try, but 10μF may not be eno...

Re: pi zero w test pads for extra USB

The Pi Zero only has one USB port, to have more USB connections you need to connect it to a USB hub. I don't know what pads are under there but I suspect they are just connections to the pins in the USB socket. If you try to have two devices directly connected to the same port things aren't going t...

pi zero w test pads for extra USB [solved]

Hi everyone,

I am trying to add an extra usb port for connecting and arduino using the back test pads in the zero w but sometimes when I plug the arduino the pi sometimes reboots itself.

Is that "extra" usb usable? Do I need extra circuitry?

Thanks

Powerpoint slideshows on the Pi

Howdy! I made a simplistic presentation software, with a standalone presentation player that runs in Mono. Called Power Speck  It includes a software to convert from and to PowerPoint (2003 to 2013 versions) using MS PowerPoint interoperation (converter uses MS Office PowerPoint 2010 or newer i...

Re: Low-level access to camera output?

If you only have programmed in windows you can just call raspistill from .net (it is slow, 1.6 fps because it's using the still port, not video port) but it is really simple to use adding mono to the pi, example: http://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewt ... 43&t=74847

Re: Low-level access to camera output?

In picamera there is a way to take stills from the video feed (because raspistill at best reaches <2 fps using the process signaling shutter), anyone knows if is easy to mod raspistill to use the video feed? I haven't checked a lot of the code but it seems requires to learn a lot of mmal stuff

Re: Low-level access to camera output?

picamera is quite fast to retrieve snaps when you set video mode, check it out, you will probably will get 11 fps or more with decent resolution

Re: using signal/keypress mode? or grab still from live vide

Some people claims they are getting >5 fps streaming small images with mjpg-streamer but I think is not the case because they are just using the same file from /tmp/ (so probably mjpg-streamer is just duplicating some frames). Have you found any solution to this? I am looking how to grab stills from...

USB sniffer?

I want to sniff 2 devices (arduino host usb -> calculator, to troubleshoot the arduino "host" side) there is any chance to get the raspberry to act like a man-in-the-middle and save the usb traffic between these 2 ones? There is a beaglebone (not black) project that does this but I don't have that b...

Re: Weird 3v3 voltage in my Pi

It sounds like your ground connection is actually the 5v supply rail i.e. 3.3v - 5v = -1.7v which is close to -1.8v http://elinux.org/RPi_Low-level_peripherals#General_Purpose_Input.2FOutput_.28GPIO.29 Richard S. duh! you are totally right! thanks a lot! (adafruit's gpio adapter was reversed  )

Weird 3v3 voltage in my Pi

I am getting -1.8V in the 3v3 pin :S (I have 2 ones, they both work but I am trying to detect a IR sensor signal in the GPIO7 and I just receive noise).

Can anyone confirm that the 3v3 pin gives 3.3V ?

Worked nicely with a $4 USD dongle from eBay
It will be nice if you append the files here too.

Also: wireless-power off should be added to /etc/network/interfaces file

Hi!

Anyone knows how to launch a "custom logo" thru the screen while the pi is booting and then replace it with a video? (or some window from 1 program only), hiding raspbian boot and console, etc
