Re: RasPi power usage measurements ~2 watts at idle

Does anyone know what the cost per year would be to run the raspberry pi 24/7?

Currently paying 11p per unit with EDF electricity but I have no idea how to work out the calculation :geek:

Now we need to find out if having 10 Raspberry Pis is any faster than a single intel machine with a similar price!

P.S. I used to love raytracing with povray back in the day.

Re: the teething troubles... (not the launch)

I've got a raspberry pi and been using it extensively myself and with a select class of students. The general feedback is its just too slow at the moment to be usable as a teaching tool. I don't even think its the cpu that is the bottleneck, its the graphics on screen really and the feedback a user ...

Re: The new forums are here!

Great work on the migration.

Theme is excellent and you get used to it after a while.

Tapatalk support would be great, Just sign up and copy the folder to the forum root.

The 6kb avatar limit is hugely restrictive though. I needed to use GIF :) 50kb would be a more reasonable limit.

The OP kinda has a point.

Its a shame there isn't a Kids version of linux really with just the programming tools and a web browser installed.

Re: How Many Raspberry-Pi got pre-ordered?

It is probably in the 100s of thousands in total. Judging by the statistics of the webservers that morning.

Anything that hits bbc news or slashdot is going to get millions of referrals. Let alone all the broadsheets and other tech blogs.
