Re: Need more GPIO Pins...LCD screen uses them all!?
From what is published in your link to that screen, there are 4 unused pins on the 2x20 header. These are the physical pin numbers (NC = not connected): 1 NC Power positive (3.3V power) 17 NC Power positive (3.3V power) 35 NC GPIO interface 37 NC GPIO interface The first 2 are the 3.3V power pins (n...

Re: Cloned SD to NVME - Need to re-image NVME using same SD
You could edit /etc/fstab and cmdline.txt from PARTUUID to /dev/mmcblk0p1 as the bootfs and /dev/mmcblk0p2 as the rootfs.
That will point the OS at the SD card, regardless of whatever else is connected.

Re: Help my pi zero 2 w is stuck in my RPi case for zero
I had the same problem with the Zero 2. It was an extremely tight fit in the official case, and none of the mini-HDMI adapters I own would fit deep enough for a good connection (the case doesn't have a flush-fit on the ports, so you need a mini-HDMI with an unusually long plug). The tight fit combin...

Re: PI Zero W heats up soon
Without an SD card, it got a little hot after about a minute. It's about 45C. I have anothor PI Zero W, and when I tried it, it didn't heat up at all. Yea, without an OS to boot it's basically doing nothing and would not get hot. So the Pi Zero that's still heating up has some kind of hardware prob...

Re: 3B hardware issue, not booting
EDIT: What are you using for a power supply? The 3B needs more power than the old models (5V 2.5A). Sounds like your micro SD card slot may be faulty. Check it carefully and look for any signs of damage (anything that doesn't look right). Also check the rest of the board for damaged or missing comp...

Re: Raspberry Pi 5 discussion thread
The mistake IMO is not in having done it, but not better explaining what was done, why, and the consequences of that. They have simply left people to discover their, not unreasonable, expectations were wrong. Considering how reasonably priced the official PSU is, why doesn't everyone just order one...

Re: SSK 2TB Portable SSD looks promising
I have yet to gamble on a portable drive. Spending a bunch of money not knowing if it will work on a Pi. Yea, I wouldn't have bought that for Pi use with unknown internals, but since I had one... I was originally going to get a 2TB version of the SSK Solid State Flash Drive, but found this for a fe...

SSK 2TB Portable SSD looks promising
I purchased a 2TB SSK SD500 portable SSD for another use, but I tested it on my Pi 4B first, and got great results. First of all, it's USB 3.2 Gen 2 and USB-C (but it also includes a USB-A cable), and it's tiny. SSK_SD500_2TB.jpg That's roughly 6.85 cm x 3.75 cm x 1.25 cm in the homeland of the Rasp...

Without experience in doing this sort of thing, you will almost certainly destroy your Pi400.
Just use the overlay to disable WiFi, or configure your router to block your Pi400.

Re: PI Zero W heats up soon
After inserting the SD card into my PI Zero W and turning it on, it gets very hot within about 40 seconds. Define "very hot" because the Pi SoC can fell very hot to the touch while still running below designed thermal limits (85C/185F). I bought my PI Zero W a few days ago. I flashed SD c...

Re: Mouse & keyboard not connecting to Zero W
Which USB port was your hub connected to? Pi Zero series computers have 2 micro USB ports, but only one of them supports data and devices (the other is just for power). If you connected the hub to the power port then your devices won't work. The ports are labelled USB and PWR IN, with the USB data p...

Re: VNC server doesn't activate on Raspberry Pi OS 64 bit
As others have said, RPiOS Bookworm no longer uses X11/Openbox for its GUI, it uses Wayland, and that isn't compatible with RealVNC (it can partially work, but it will perform poorly). If you want to use RealVNC Viewer and services (like their cloud connect), then switch back to X11/Openbox (raspi-c...

Re: Interesting new Duel SSD hat..
Interesting, but what's the point (still only have a single PCIe lane, which will now be used to access dual drives)? Also, the limited power will be problematic for some drives (really needs a better power solution). I can't really think of a use-case that wouldn't better be served by a network dri...

Re: Reduce size of Pi4 boot partition on SSD drive please....
Why? Unless you're plannign to physically connect the drive to a windows box (or share it over something like iSCSI) ext4 is a much better choice. Network clients connecting ove SMB or NFS don't care or even know what the underlying filesystem on [the] server is. Agreed. The OP still hasn't made it...

re-enable VNC using raspi-config. That did it. I thought (because it used to be) that VNC was enabled through Preferences. Oops, guess I forgot to mention that. Sorry  Yea, you have to re-enable the VNC server when you switch between Wayland/X11 I've edited my post above to correct my omissio...

Re: VNC File Transfer greyed out and VNC is flaky
Prior to Bookworm, Raspberry Pi OS included support for RealVNC server and viewer, and used X11/Openbox for the GUI desktop and window manager. With Bookworm the graphical manager was switched to Wayland, which is supposed to be the new hotness, but it doesn't fully support RealVNC (actually, it did...

Re: VNC File Transfer greyed out and VNC is flaky
I believe that has to do with Wayland.
Switch back to X11/Openbox if you want to use RealVNC.
EDIT
You will have to re-enable the VNC server in raspi-config after you make the change.
Switch back to X11/Openbox if you want to use RealVNC.
Code: Select all
sudo raspi-config
6 - Advanced Options
A6 - Wayland
W1 - X11/Openbox
You will have to re-enable the VNC server in raspi-config after you make the change.

Re: Speedtest for Upload for Raspberry Pi OS Bullseye (for a Zero 2W)?
The question is: why is the download rate with "speedtest" so much lower? Very likely because it's a Pi Zero (2W) on 2.4 GHz WiFi. In my experience, wireless performance on Pi computers is not great, but it works. For example, my 4B on 5GHz WiFi just got 80.90 Mbit/s download and 88.99 Mb...

Re: USB3 port power issues when connected to an external usb drive
[ Even at 12w Peak for a Pi5, that should still leave 33w for everything else, no? No, that's not the way it works. USB PD chargers have protocols they follow, and most fast charging protocols operate at higher than 5V, which the Pi does not support. The default for 5V is typically 3A (15W). The Pi ...

lol, Kali officially created and announced Pi5 version. Great, ask them (Kali) for support. However, you answer is negatively to support Kali linux. That's right. The Raspberry Pi creators cannot be responsible for supporting every random 3rd party OS. If you believe they should then you are living...

Re: new pi4 Model B - No headless setup, no ethernet with ip4 - dhcp?
Problems with Ubuntu are hardly the fault of the Raspberry Pi computer or its creators. I suggest you ask for help on the Ubuntu support forums. It's been awhile since I've run Ubuntu Server, but I do recall headless setup with wireless networking was a major PITA. Which is why I eagerly switched to...
