Boot and run Scratch programme

Hello My son and I have written a little quiz in Scratch for his homework this week and the plan is for him to take his RPi to school on Monday and run his quiz for the teacher. I can show him (and write down) what to do to get it running, but I'd much rather get the RPi to bootup and run his quiz w...

Re: Lego + RPi ? Integration

<t>sounds very cool - it must be possible of course - but how, that's something i don't know.<br/> <br/> I can't imagin Lego being very happy with people using its sensors on other systems. That said, they did let the mindstorms operating system go open source when they had thought of coming down ha...

Re: Needed: a Nursery manual--

<t>I've dabbled with many things - i've been a beginner since I got my ZX Spectrum - but the fanciest my code ever got was modifying Visual Basic code for Visual Pinball.<br/> <br/> Where I've had successes (hacking my Wii and PSP to run custom firmware, as well as my Visual Pinball experiments) was...

Re: Invitation to order from RS

<t>Only just saw I had an email from RS - went stright through to the site and ordered no problems. Ordered a 16gb sd card from amzon though for only £2 more then the 4gb frmo RS – same brand and it's a model 6 so should be ok (I''ll shove it in my camera if its not).<br/> <br/> Earlier problmes mus...

Re: raspberry pi already failed ?

<t>I'd say from the amount of people now talking about getting kids programming, and the number of people who think they can do it better than the Pi team, that it has already achieved many objectives before a single unit shipped.<br/> <br/> If people go down the route that they can do this with stu...

Re: Minecraft

<t>I'd like to think that enthusiastic inde game developers will see RPi as a means to move into console development.<br/> <br/> I mean a REAL inde console.<br/> <br/> With the right case, a screen and a few buttons, you could have a hand held Minecraft game OOB so to speak.<br/> <br/> I read a whil...

Re: Pi Tins : Casings for the Raspberry Pi

I'm hoping it will fit inside an old cassette case - I've  copy of Pimania for the spectrum in the loft - seems a fitting home.

Also if cases are PiTins, shouldn;t distros be called PiFillings?

Re: Raspberry Pi Adventure

Genuinly think we / someone should write a RPi adventure in the old school way - or write an adventure writing tool - the structure of these things is a good lesson for kids in itself.

Re: The projects list. Look here for some ideas.

<t>I'd thought of making my own pinball table for some time using Visual Pinball to handle the software and display side of things (probably using a laptop as the screen and brain of the machine), with an iPac (from my MAME controler) to supply switch inputs.<br/> <br/> I just never got around to re...

Re: iphone 3GS LCDs for less than £9 on ebay.

<t>Not sure about iPhone - what about Nintendo DS screens? I;ve seen the DSi lcd screen and touch screen overlay for less than £15 together.<br/> <br/> I;ve also got an old DS lite hanging around that I could butcher (kids have progressed to the DS XL). even the fat XL screen replacements are less t...
