Where are the updates to it from yum? It has been a month since I've seen any.

Re: MicroSD Cards for B+ ?

I had problems with multiple SanDisk 32GB I purchased and tried. I went with Samsung 16GB 10C microSD and have had no problems

Where are the yum updates

It has been awhile since there was any yum updates on a Pidora 2014-R3 install. Am I missing something or do I have a bad configuration of yum?

Re: The Raspberry Pi Model B+ Q&A thread

There's no such thing as "the" SanDisk microSD 32GB card - all manufacturers sell a dizzying variety of cards of different sizes / classes / sub-brands / prices :? while you are correct, what I have found was that others have had problems with SanDisk cards so I just wanted to make sure that any re...

Re: The Raspberry Pi Model B+ Q&A thread

Have had problems with the SanDisk microSD 32GB card. Can someone recommend a card that works well with the B+? I was looking a Kingston or Lexar.

Re: New pi B+ problem booting

@mahjongg I do not think it is specific to pidora! The link is to github raspberrypi firmware issue and in the thread they are talking about raspbian updates. There is a discusion of it at https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux/pull/72

Re: New pi B+ problem booting

Thanks fruitoftheloom! I went to the link listed and the person stated a problem with his SD card which was a 16G Sandisk. Mine is a 32G microSD from Sandisk, so he suggested adding a few items to the cmdline.txt file which I did and I was able to boot up my raspberry pi b+ with no problems (so far ...

New pi B+ problem booting

I got a new raspberry pi b+ the other day and put a 32GB MicroSD card in it with Pidora (Pidora-2014-R1.img.gz) on it. I started it up and everything seemed to work great. Later I added a 1TB external HD to it via a powered USB hub to it and mounted the drive. Again things seemed to work great. Then...

Re: SD Backup Process

It might be. But you need to take into account that (depending on how exactly the disk was partitioned) there might be unused space on the disk before the first partition, between the first and second partitions, and after the second partition. :geek: So the end of the first partition might not be ...

Re: SD Backup Process

...ahhhhh. In which case the script has a hard-coded assumption about the size of the existing VFAT partition, which obviously may not be correct! :( So how would one get the actual size of the VFAT? That's what it looks like to me, but I haven't examined the whole script, just the notes above. Wha...

Re: SD Backup Process

I believe I see what is happening here. The previous steps have resized the / filesystem, but not changed the size of the partition it is in. Here goes: 9. We need the new filesystem size in bytes, so convert from 4KB blocks to Bytes by multiplying by 4096 (4K). 10. Use parted to delete the old par...

Re: SD Backup Process

The reason for starting on a 4K boundary is for SDCard performance reasons. Split blocks aren't delivered as quickly as contiguous blocks on a 4K boundary. That's why there's some juggling done to create the new partitions on a sensible boundary. is that for step 9 or step 12? 9. multiply $size by ...

Re: SD Backup Process

It's not difficult to resize the image of a card. Well I think I like the sound of that... Do you run the perl resize script? I looked at it and I was trying to figure out how it gets done. It looks like: 1. the variable $image is set from command line input 2. use 'parted -m $image unit B print | ...

SD Backup Process

I am seeking a backup process for my 16GB SD card. What I have been doing (it does work...) is: 1. halt the rpi and on another linux system insert the rpi's SD card 2. use gparted to reduce the size of the second partition on the SD card down to 6GB (based on the data on the partition is always abou...

Re: startx in pidora

Well got xfce working by:

Code: Select all

yum install switchdesk switchdesk-gui
switchdesk xfce
then I ran startx and it worked.

I did look for something in /etc/sysconfig/desktop but the file did not exist, even after my switchdesk success.

Re: SSH Server refused key

What does /etc/ssh/sshd_config look like? The line that might matter is: #RSAAuthentication yes Not sure if yes or no is the default. But you might try un-commenting it and restarting sshd. Also you could use the verbose command line option to see if there is anything else that is happening. Also yo...

startx in pidora

I just grabbed pidora and put it on an SD. The boot went ok (there was one problem but it goes away to fast...) and I went through the firstboot process. I selected text boot and default video. Then the system rebooted 2 times (resizing the rootfs). So I was left at the command prompt and I did a yu...

Re: Can not get a good SD

I was trying to mount the rootfs partition straight from the img file and I noticed something. parted rpfr-f18-final.img didn't show partitions correctly. So I md5sum'ed it and it didn't match rpfr-f18-final.img.md5sum... I did do a check when I downloaded the img file but had problems with the SD r...

Re: Can not get a good SD

I have tried it on a 2GB card and a 4GB card. Same same. In my long (sorry...) OP I stated I had loaded raspbian wheezy up on the card and it worked fine. In fact I'm running off it now on that card. I have tried it on another 16GB card and that had the same result. I do not think it is the card (co...

Can not get a good SD

I got my raspberry pi with a debian 7 4GB drive and this works fine. But I'm a fedora dude so I went and got rpfr-f18-final.zip and unziped it to rpfr-f18-final.img and rpfr-f18-final.img.md5sum. I have a 16GB class 6 SD card. I have tried and tried to create an SD that will boot but I can not get o...
