Re: Recepteur TNT

Re: 3TB Hard Drive Issue

I have a 3TB hard drive too, not an a Pi though. The issue is your drive must be partitioned using a GPT/GUID, not MBR, format. Broadly speaking, GPT is supported by machines with an EFI Bios. If you have already partitioned your drive to MBR, you need to re-do it. There are also a number of Linux a...

Re: Show Off

I'm not sure who talked about an HDMI monitor. If you want to display the Pi's startup in a MacDo, you can 1- power the Pi fro your laptop's USB port (well, from *most* laptop's USB port, the Pi takes a bit more than the USB standard states, but so do USB hard disks, so most laptops can handle that)...

Indeed, I would link the Pi to the Laptop via an ethernet cable an try to power it via the laptop's USB. Tack on a few flashing LED ^^

Re: It says my SDHC card is 1.88GB when it's 16GB. Why?

By default, the image only uses 2 GB to accommodate smaller SD cards. You can use gparted to expend your partition. Search for "resize sd card" or "gparted"

The black borders can be fixed via options in the config.txt file. search for "commented config.txt"

Have fun !

Re: miniDLNA installation problems on wheezy

don't forget to set your media dir: media_dir Path to the directory containing the media files the minidlna server should share. Use this option several times if you have more than one directory to share. To restrict a path to one specific media type, you can use the following syntax: the letter ‘A’...

Re: VGA Monitor

You can buy an *active* hdmi to vga converter, that processes the HDMI signal to change it to VGA.

There are threads about this in this forum, and a huge backlog of posts to validate so I'll let you do your own search ^^

Re: USB HD and Samba performance

I've done half a dozen of tweaks to mine, which I jotted down somewhere and promptly lost. For large files, you can leverage: 3.5 Readahead The option readahead IS NOT the same as multcount. The multcount refers to the possibility of the hardware to read more than one sector at a time while the read...

Re: Access home HDD from anywhere.

Hi. Model A is not available yet, and no release date is forthcoming. You might as well start with a B ^^ Depending on what files you want to access, you might be better off using a dlna server (xbmc, minidlna...) instead off an old school network/FTP share. dlna works for media files (pictures, mov...

In a less fun register, Word for Dos is free (gratis, not open), and is supposed to run well in spite of a few install error messages. Binary is here: http://download.microsoft.com/download/ ... 55_ben.exe

FreeNX is an RDP (as in MS's Remote Desktop Protocol) client and server for Linux. Main advantage is you can use Windows' RDP client to control a Linux box, and I find RDP a lot nicer than VNC (vector vs bitmap, I think).

Re: Mount Network Storage

I don't know if i 'is just good practice or a requirement, but you should make a subdir to /mnt and mount into that.

Other than that, you don't get an actual error message ? "Attempt to mount..." is not an error, maybe it did work ?
