Re: Mediacenter in a car

I have published a blog post about my setup at http://ian-barton.com/posts/2013/May/12/a-dlna-server-on-a-raspberry-pi/ . The code is also available on GitHub at https://github.com/geekinthesticks/raspberry-pi-dlnaserver Unfortunately, GitHub has somewhat messed up the formatting of the instruction...

Re: Mediacenter in a car

In addition to the hardware off switch, I have a simple nodejs app that just displays a "Shutdown" button, which lets me shut off the Pi using a browser on the phone. Sounds superb. I did not bother with a shut-down button - it is the proper way to do it, though. My PI has survived tens (if not hun...

Re: Mediacenter in a car

I think that I'm going to take a slightly different approach and instead of two wifi adapters instead have one wifi and one bluetooth. Connect from Android via bluetooth and stream that way, and use the wifi to also connect to the Pi so that I can send a remote shut-off command. Short of wiring in ...

Re: Mediacenter in a car

This is awesome, thank you. Do you have a recommendation for the USB sound stick? Thank you. I have used this cheap one with another brand name - it functions out of the box: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B002FI7GWK/ref=oh_details_o03_s00_i00 People have suggested better USB-sound dongles, tho...

Re: Mediacenter in a car

After a few weeks and hundreds of trial and error, I had to change the setup totally. First of all, since the main purpose of the set-up was to be able to listen to music with decent quality in the car, I had to get rid of the poor sound card of the board and get a USB- sound card instead. The click...

Re: How to install XBMC on Wheezy Raspbian

Try this:

"...setup some udev rules to grant it ownership of input devices (otherwise the keyboard won't work in XBMC), by placing the following in /etc/udev/rules.d/99-input.rules:

Code: Select all

SUBSYSTEM=="input", GROUP="input", MODE="0660"
..."

Mediacenter in a car

Hi everybody. I have been testing various scenarios during the last week using the raspberry as a media center in car. After trial and error, I found the following setting to function best. There are plenty of threads related to subject here, but none of the suggestions alone seemed to suit my needs...

Re: Stream spotify wirelessly from android to headless raspb

Hi. I have just managed to to that, the intention being to stream music from iPhones/iPads in the car to the car stereo to which the Raspberry is attached via 3.5mm plug-in. Please check the details here: http://lifehacker.com/5978594/turn-a-raspberry-pi-into-an-airplay-receiver-for-streaming-music-...
