Re: Sending data to web host/server

So I'm leaning to the windows hosted web service rather than the FTP method.

Any libraries/packages out there that are going to help?

I obviously need to write a script to zip files first, then connect to service and transfer.

Re: Sending data to web host/server

The RPi is able to use web services and FTP. Either should be fairly easy and too taxing for the RPi. There are many ways of doing both. That's what I was hoping for... As I will be transfering via a 3G GSM modem, which will be using a data plan, there is a cost involved in any uploading. So more t...

Re: Sending data to web host/server

You need to learn PHP. Or whatever your host offers. FTP upload should be enough for pics. For GPS data you could go all out and code a client in Python which uses a elaborate REST API , resort to bash and curl (HTTP POST) or even do it via a CSV text file regularly uploaded (FTP) after long interv...

Sending data to web host/server

Looking for suggestions or ideas on how to send data (text & images) to a web server. If I have a Pi with a webcam and a GPS, and a 3G/4G GSM dongle, I'd like it to randomly (or scheduled) send data to a web server. Obviously I'd need a webserver (domain name, and hosting space), and to create some ...

iPod Control

Any apps or scripts available to control an iPod from the Pi?

With the ability to navigate iPod (artists, tracks, playlists etc ect), and to show the track name (and other ID3 tag info)

Cheers

Re: Touch Screen skinned GUI App?

This is a screnshot of maemo , a mobile operating system ! There seems to be a special relationship between the prominent maemo/MeeGo/Mer projects , and at least the Mer project does indeed reference the Raspberry in their Wiki. Whether that means that Mer works on the Pi or is actively developed f...

Re: Touch Screen skinned GUI App?

This is a screenshot from the GTK+ website, this is pretty much an example of a front end I would like for an application. Basically a skinned gui app, with menu button/images on the left, and some content/window in the main area of the screen. ie.. One option would be mp3 player button, and main wi...

Re: Touch Screen skinned GUI App?

To develop for on the Pi from Windows, I use BVRDE at http://bvrde.sourceforge.net/ . This connects to the Pi using SSH, SFTP, etc but allows editing, debugging, etc like a Windows IDE. I also sometimes use MobaXTerm http://mobaxterm.mobatek.net/ . GUI Toolkits that work on Windows and the Pi (that...

Re: Touch Screen skinned GUI App?

OpenGL often gives access to 3D functions , and isn't directly needed for creating GUI based apps. It is fairly low-level and does not include widgets and other UI elements at all. If you want to design your UI completely yourself , you might want to look into SDL instead. Else sticking to a toolki...

Re: Pi as car radio

Why wouldn't you want a touchscreen on a carputer, almost all new vehicles now have (or have an option) of an in-dash GPS/multimedia system. Deciding if it's safe to use or type an SMS while driving is a user choice LOL. Aside from I think texting while driving is a dumb idea anyway, most cars now h...

Re: Touch Screen skinned GUI App?

Thanks guys, I think C++ is a good path since I already know it. Developing on a windows platform would be nice just since I have windows PCs and no Linux box (other than the Pi). I could build a cheap Linux box for development as I have some PC parts, and this would be easier and quicker than devel...

Touch Screen skinned GUI App?

Hey guys, Looking for a little guidance on a starting point with Raspbian/Pi programming. Been developing for years on the Windows platform (C++, Delphi, C#), but complete noob to Linux OS & Linux programming. I'd like to do a Pi project with a touch screen, that has a full screen skinned GUI app, s...

Re: 10" LCD LVDS bundle with capacitive touchscreen and ambi

Looks like a sweet display... For those that have it, and looks like you've been running them several months now, would you still recommend these displays.?? I'm not so worried about a touchscreen to be honest (although it's a nice to have), but I would like a high resolution 10" display. So is this...
