sending multiple webcam streams from a RPI ?

Dear all,
i was wondering if it is possible to use motion of mjpeg-streamer or another library to send more than one video feed from one Raspberry PI?
I would ideally like 2-4 different cameras streamed from a powered usb hub for a pet monitoring project.
Any suggestions would be great.

thanks i like the look of the digital DS18B20 sensors.

how would you recommend i could link 50x of these to the GPIO pins?
