BOA webserver

This is an excellent web server - available as a package straight from usual repository, easy to configure.
Performance on a RPi is amazing, I am now using to test CGI based apps.

If you want a straight forward web server this is one to look at.

I completely agree - having a few spare Pi boxes and plenty of ready to go sd cards would mean availability in school would be excellent. Then IT could focus on server based services Pi might be just the thing for kids to take home too...

for those with sony (or other usb) readers who hate computers:

plug a RP into tv add keyboard+mouse

this adds ability to transfer sdcard ebooks etc (and from internet) to sony reader - ideal if calibre can be ported
