Re: RPi and real-time, low-latency audio

Hmm interesting...

Presume you're disabling swap so it doesn't mess with the audio.

If I wanted to do that how can I be sure swap is off?

This is on raspbian btw.

Cheers,

Julian

Re: RPi and real-time, low-latency audio

Hey AutoStatic / All,

I'm back to tweaking my Pi:)

Could anyone tell me whether zram
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ZRam
is ok to add - i.e. not mess with the audio?

Regards,

Julian

Re: Nokia Pi LCD + Switch Shield board v2

Hi Julian, I can post some code that just sets up the hpio's, pull-downs, and reads the switches, but as Dan has stated, It probably won't help you in the long run ;) Texy Hey Texy, Hope you don't mind but may I 'bump' you for your kind offer of assistance please? I do understand that it may not be...

Re: RPi and real-time, low-latency audio

Also - yes, it was the jackscript I was referring to (not thinking clearly yesterday obviously). I spent a bit of time reading around and starting to get my head around startup scripts. Still some work to do but getting it together...albeit slowly. I'll be experimenting with them again in a day or s...

Re: RPi and real-time, low-latency audio

Hi Julian, not sure what you mean. Afaik the RPi's CPU will start scaling as soon as you overclock it. Hi Jeremy, Sorry, not expressing myself very well... I noticed from your config.txt that you had forceturbo=0 . I'd also come across a post (sorry can't put my finger on the reference atm) where i...

Also -

I'm not sure how to get your startup script to work. Would you mind walking me through it please?

I tried adding the commands to /etc/rc.local but it ain't worked.

Cheers,

Re: RPi and real-time, low-latency audio

Hey Jeremy, Another overclocking question... I notice you don't run turbomode (turbomode=0) and am wondering if it's better without and just have cpufreq at performance. I'm presuming that this stops turbomode still attempting to scale the cpu whereas performance is flat out. Is this a correct guess...

Re: Nokia Pi LCD + Switch Shield board v2

Hey Texy, If I could take you up on that that would be great. I think it's a case of where I'm still not quite getting what's doing what and if you wouldn't mind breaking it down into little pieces I think that'd be really useful for me. Ideally what I would like is to just have nothing on the scree...

Re: Nokia Pi LCD + Switch Shield board v2

Hey Dan, Many thanks for the offer of assistance. Yeah, still on the same plan but just finding it all a little tricky (as well as being stupidly snowed under work-wise atm). I've ended up with two reasonably similar python scripts (one being texy's, the other from here: http://www.raspberrypi.org/p...

Re: Nokia Pi LCD + Switch Shield board v2

Hi all / Texy, Still wrestling with the board and could really do with some help please. I would really appreciate if someone could post a stripped out version of the code so it only controls the switches (I only need the down switch) without any of the code that gets sent to the LCD screen? My reve...

Re: RPi and real-time, low-latency audio

Hey all, So ... Overclocking. There is way too much conflicting info out and about regarding this and certainly nothing I've come across specific to audio (apart from here and the linuxaudio page). My feeling is that there's a massive difference between people who are occasionally scaling upwards in...

Re: Enable both I2C Busses

Nice, but a bit scary. I really need to get my soldering skills down (and probably some better/more equipment) to be feeling confident to try something like this. Thanks for sharing though, good to know it's doable. We've ended up going for the IC demultiplexer method. Will update with our progress ...

Re: Enable both I2C Busses

Hi again, Paul - I've been looking at your add-on boards and they look really good I have to say. Wish that I'd spotted these before we started as I think it would have saved us much faffing about. We went for one of the adafruit proto boards which is causing us occasional problems and feels a bit f...

Re: RPi and real-time, low-latency audio

Been pondering the RT/dropbear/available RAM thing for a few days and I hope you don't mind me asking another question: As this particular RPi is for an installation that isn't accessible via internet, has no other usage and I'm the only user - can I still get RT if I'm root? Yes I know it's very fr...

I suggest you look at this http://www.mouser.com/pdfdocs/D6T01_ThermalIRSensorWhitepaper.pdf Also mentions using I2C bus switches Yes - this paper seems to have appeared in the last couple of days - the previous N.A. distributor was digikey up until last week. Re: Enable both I2C Busses

Cheers Paul - learning all the time:) - also seem to be ordering endlessly from Farnell atm too, their £20 minimum spend has caught me out a few times. Might wait it out for a few more days and will no doubt need more stuff by then!

Cheers,

Re: Enable both I2C Busses

I should have been a little clearer here. My concerns are more going the other way - it's parsing the data that the sensors are sending that I'm concerned about. The 2 sensors will be facing in different directions and it's the separating of the 2 streams coming from (i.e.) the IC switch that I'm co...

Re: Enable both I2C Busses

Hey StaticDet5, Both buses are there, I'm just not sure where the "Pin Outs" are. That's good to know Another option is to use one of the digital lines for each sensor to enable a "shutdown" of the sensor. Mr. Townsend on the Adafruit website does a great job of explaining how to do this: http://lea...

Re: Enable both I2C Busses

Hi techpaul, Many thanks for getting in touch... They're both Omron D6T44L's (thermal imaging). Eventually got a response from Omron tech support saying the addresses cannot be changed. Been doing some digging on an IC switch but am very unsure of how we would then parse the data from both sensors. ...

Re: Enable both I2C Busses

Hi all,

I'm looking to run 2 i2c sensors that have the same fixed address.

Can I ask a possibly dumb question here please...

Is this possible on a rev.1 board?

Apologies if it's obvious and I missed it from reading the thread - I'm in a very steep learning curve atm:)

Best wishes,

Julian
