Re: VideoCore gpu lives on with vc5

Maybe it's because I'm over 50, but to me, an SBC for around $35 is a good deal, and the fact that so much support is available for it is a huge plus. I just wish people would stop bickering about "I need feature X" where X is in (GbE, USB3, SATA, more RAM, etc). Wholeheartedly agree, people postin...

According to this vc5 is in the works and hopefully will be in the rpi4 at some time. The best part it already has oss drivers thanks to Eric Anholt.

Flick - 3D tracking and gesture boards

Hi, sort of just came across this board from Pi Supply. Its called "Flick". Basically just a touchpad but can also track on the z axis. https://www.pi-supply.com/brand/pi-supply/flick/ Flick is a range of 3D tracking and gesture boards for the Raspberry Pi, Pi Zero and I2C devices. These boards let ...

absolutely NOT, the script works fine as is on any 4.x based kernel. If you want to have a single swap file just modify it, won't be necessary though.

It is, isn't it, or at least, its built in ready to be used if you turn it on (loadable module)?
I think runboy93 means enabled by default as swap instead of using swap from sdcard.

Only limited to USB drives? USB drivers have better read/writes, but what about life cycle? Does they wear off faster than SD cards? I have a Pi3B that boots directly from a 314GB PiDrive and a CM3L mounted in a WD SATA Adapter that boots directly from an SSD. I have plans to set up two more CM3L/S...

Creating pi2 from pi3

Since the pi2 v1.2 and pi3 use the same SoC, is it safe to say that underclocking the pi3 using arm_freq=900 will have the same performance as that of the pi2 v1.2?

Re: Clarification of concepts: GPU an Video HW decoding

... It depends on which bit they are referring to when they say GPU. How are they rendering it? Conversion of a 1080P frame from YUV (as produced by decoders) to RGBA (as generally required by the Linux framebuffer) is a pretty painful operation in both memory bandwidth and computation terms. Clarification of concepts: GPU an Video HW decoding

Afaik, the gpu has two main parts, one being the actual "graphics processing unit" and the other optional part being the hardware decoder. The main gpu containing mainly shaders and other miscellaneous things only deals with graphical data like polygons and stuff, and media content is mainly coded u...

I fund a couple of posts on the forum regarding this but most of them inconclusive. The following error occurs during the build: pi@raspberrypi:~/glmark2-...

Re: Raspberry Pi 4 possible h.265 decoder?

Hmmm sadly the vc4 team was dissolved by Broadcom. Afaik only Eric Anholt is working on it and that too on the driver and not the hardware. So I doubt their would be any vc4.2 or vc5. However the video decoder part is separate from the vc4, perhaps if the node is dropped from 40 to 28, we could stil...

mouse issue with fake kms on raspbian

I am having an odd issue with the kfms v3d overlay. If on a 1920x1080p screen I set the resolution to 1280x720 USING config.txt, The screen resizes as expected but it seems that the mouse responds rather oddly. It only covers a porting of the screen starting from pixel (0,0) and covers (1280,720), r...
