No, not at the moment, i am thinking of adding an API to the client. it will take some work so it might have to wait to version2

Re: USB over IP for Raspberry Pi

Can any version of the client be expected for Mac OS 10.6.8 or Desktop Ubuntu? Unfortunately, OSX 10.6.8 wont be supported, but the linux client will eventually be supported, it is on my todo list I have a Brother DCP 8070d with a scanner, and when it is attached to a computer you can scan to file ...

Re: Beta test USB over IP for Raspberry Pi

Is it possible to provide an executable that doesn't have dependencies on libgtk? I want to install this on raspbian server edition and would rather not have to install a lot of unnecessary libraries. Will post a new version of virtualhere without the gtk dependencies in a few days..my pi is out of...

Actually you need to do

sudo ./vhusbdpi -b

and that will run in the background and you dont need to keep a terminal or login open.

Re: Beta test USB over IP for Raspberry Pi

You need to make sure vhenum is run. This should run automatically by the dpinst but seems like it doesnt when the files are expanded into a directory.

In your silent install script when dpinst.exe has finished running, run vhenum.exe

Re: Beta test USB over IP for Raspberry Pi

My suggestion: 1. Close virtualhere completely on the client. 2. Reboot the client computer 3. Go to Programs and Features (or Add/Remove Programs) and uninstall all the virtualhere related drivers in there 4. Reboot your computer 5. At this point we can assume you have a clean machine 6. Run the dp...

Re: Beta test USB over IP for Raspberry Pi

In the client have a look at the system messages (right click Virtual USB Hubs -> System Messages)

That will have a message saying why it is installing the drivers. e.g "No drivers found", "Installed drivers corrupted", "Drivers are old they will be upgraded" etc. What does it say?

1. Sounds like a bug, I will take a look at why the server is losing the nicknames settings.... 2. Sounds like you somehow are are missing the cat file. That contains the signatures of the drivers and must be in the same directory as the drivers during installation. I thought you were just doing to ...

One more thing (sorry for double post): I have several identical HASP USB devices (dongles for CAM software) which all appear with the same name in the list. The problem is: They have different features "inside". I always have to "try and error" before finding the right one. Is it possible to "name...

Re: Beta test USB over IP for Raspberry Pi

It does not require special usb drivers, it will use existing drivers unchanged.

VirtualHere emulates the physical layer so high level drivers dont know the difference.

BTW, next week a MacOSX client will be released to beta

Re: Beta test USB over IP for Raspberry Pi

@mark. I have updated the server and client to work around the locking issue.

Could you download 1.3.0 of the server and 1.3.3 of the client and give it a try.

Note any returns codes for dpinst can be decoded here http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library ... s.85).aspx

Re: Beta test USB over IP for Raspberry Pi

@mweinberg Hi Mark, yes i know what crashes it, there is a bug in raspbian. Using usb isochronous transfer in certain circumstances, will lock the kernel. Transfering an image (from the viewfinder ) would use this type of transfer. Controlling the camera uses a different type of method (bulk/control...

Yes please do not share the ec00, it is the USB Device that internally connects the external hub of the raspberry pi to the internal usb pins on the ARM cpu. Basically it expands the one usb port on the cpu to the two on the board. I dont know why when it is shared it crashes the pi. I will add a de...

@ celso No USP/IP code was used because it was too kernel based which i felt would affect system stability, so my server is written in userspace. Clients must be kernel based however. The client is already cross platform, however the usb driver part is not written for mac or linux yet due to lack of...

Hi Laz, the client executable has a userspace component and a kernel driver. Administrator access is needed to start the client because the client needs to install the driver and verify it is the latest version before the userspace part starts up. What it is getting stuck on is probably the SetupDiG...

x-windows is not required, just start it in console mode i.e vhusbdpi -o Just start the client, right click on"Virtual USB Hubs" -> "Manually Specify Hubs" and enter the ip and port of the server there... If you want automatic finding of the servers, since it uses bonjour/avahi/dns-sd it relies on b...
