Re: 16x2 LCD - simple C code

I used this as a skeleton to quickly make mine, using hard-coded bit set/clr operations. Works wonderfully, after properly adding delays as suggested on page 17 of the manual GE-C1602B-TMI-JT/R. A minimum of 40 microseconds is needed for commands and 1.55 ms for a display clear.

Re: Setup and PL2303 Serial Console on your Raspberry PI 3B

I fully agree pibudsman! It suffices to connect the black, white and green wires to the RPi's GPIO pins 6, 8 and 10 and the PL2303 will work as should.

Re: Is this the correct way to install the watchdog package?

Thanks paulv

I will have a look later.

Regarding any support, please note that upon startup Raspbian says:

Code: Select all

Debian GNU/Linux comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY, to the extent
permitted by applicable law.
In other words, no promises made.

Re: Is this the correct way to install the watchdog package?

Dear paulv Thanks for your extensive description of the results of your research. Impressive! I did some tests on a more recent version of Rasbian, the version is Jessie Lite Linux TestPi2 4.4.21+ #911 Thu Sep 15 14:17:52 BST 2016 armv6l GNU/Linux As you already surmised, things would be different f...

Fair enough. I have many answers but I do not know which one is preferred. Anyway, I'll find out.

Re: RRDTOOL problem

Thanks fruitoftheloom For your slightly cryptical way of saying that it the release date is still not known. Maybe it is better for me than to stick to my workaround provided someone can tell me the answer to the real question I posed: There is one small nagging thing: the rrdtool and associated com...

Re: RRDTOOL problem

Well fruitoftheloom, Thanks for the suggestion. Far from trivial at times how to proceed but after a lengthy upgrade with various stopovers it managed to conclude. Indeed, after that I could install rrdtool and use it in the application I use. Now the challange is to integrate it in the many systems...

Re: RRDTOOL problem

Well, I would have liked to receive this answer to my earlier posts.

Although, what means "change the sources list to stretch" ???

Re: RRDTOOL problem

Cross-posted from github: Well, I managed to make the version 1.6.0 for a clean RPi with Raspbian Jessie Lite. The script to achieve this and the config.log file as well as a copy of the screen output can be studied using the following dropbox link: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/d34je54d0h9fvu4/AADGLMv...

Re: RRDTOOL problem

I got more information on this problem by the author of the software: the version is outdated. We should be using 1.6 or at least 1.5.6. I wonder if this package gets updated within a reasonable time by experts? Instead I can give it a try myself to build a new version but I am not too sure about ob...

RRDTOOL problem

Dear all There are two options that do not seem to work with my rrdtool installation on Jessie (tiny) installation of Debian: --left-axis-formatter --left-axis-format There is a post by the author on https://github.com/oetiker/rrdtool-1.x/issues/591 that deals with upgrading the distribution(s). I h...

Re: USB/serial converters (not very) broken on Pi

Dear all I am quite new to this but I just quickly wanted to test fhem running on an RPI with an FHZ1300PC. The system freezes as soon as I try to connect the associated USB port. This seems very much the problem you describe here, but I fear my unix-knowledge is a bit outdated (by 20 years, althoug...
