Re: RPi 4 USB-C socket as host

As I understand it the issue is that the USB C detection wiring is not set up for dual role, this means two things. 1. You have to force the mode to use the port in host mode because the Pi can't detect that what is plugged in is a device and not a host. 2. You may have problems if you use a C to C ...

Re: RPi4 not booting with two FTDI chips attached

I saw a report of a similar issue with a USB switch box. A compliant USB device must not drive any of the USB lines before power is detected on VBUS. Apparently on the pi4 leakage currents from non-compliant devices will stop the power rails dropping to zero when turned off which in turn stops the P...

Re: Pi 4 PCB Defect?

The insulating parts of PCBs are made from fiberglass soaked in resin. What it looks like happened to me is that while milling the board to shape a fiber that was right on the edge tore out when the board was milled into shape. Normally designers keep the actual tracks a fair distance away from the ...

Re: 128GB SD Won't Work

The raspberry pi needs the first partition on the SD card to be FAT16 or FAT32. Unfortunately, while SDHC cards and SDXC cards are much the same on the electrical level the SD card association decided that SDXC cards should be formatted as exFAT. So you have basically two options. 1. Find a third-pa...

Re: After soldering a pin header, can't flash LED anymore

The good news is I don't think you have destroyed anything, I just don't think you have made a successful joint to the pads. Far from burning stuff I don't think you have used enough heat. Also on many pads I don't think you have used enough solder. You need to keep the heat on until the solder flow...

Can people who have had trouble with the freecad GUI try updating their systems and trying again. I just tried it on a fully updated buster and it seems to run. I think it may have been fixed by a recent LLVM fix I uploaded.

Scroll down to the "other sellers on amazon" section on many of those links and you find amazon themselves, but the listings from amazon themselves say "usually within 1-2 months".

Re: I dont get it... Why is everyone from science schools so obsessed with Perl and Python when we got C?

Languages like python just lets you get stuff done far more easily than C (or even C++). You can run the code immediately rather than having a compile step. You can even experiment with calling functions interactively and inspecting the results. You can just write the code to do what you want to do ...

Re: When does Amazon recieve the new Raspberry Pi's?

Amazon do seem to sell the raspberry pi directly, though they usually seem to get undercut by third party sellers on their platform and they don't seem to have stock of Pi4s right now.

basically reprepro in combination with a bunch of custom tooling. Some of that tooling is available at https://github.com/plugwash/raspbian-tools/ but a bunch is kept privately.

Autobuilding is handled by wanna-build and buildd like Debian does.

`php-smbclient` pulls in PHP7.2 dependencies, even though Buster defaults to PHP7.3. Or regular Debian, `php-smbclient` does not pull in PHP7.2, but depends on PHP7.3.
Looking at this.

depends if I can get it to build or not.

I think the linker stuff was a red herring, it only seems to be a warning, not an actual error. I think I have a fix for the opengl related error. Lets see if it fails in some other way.

Can you be more specific? Debian backport's security patches so an older upstream version number doesn't nessacerally indicate that bugs are still present.

And there is also the question of who is responsible for intialising the PCIe bus and assigning addresess to devices, does the firmware do it or does the OS need to.
