Re: Raspberry Pi 4 hdmi1 resolution

Hi, ... If I use raspi-config, I can only modify hdmi0, but not hdmi1. Am I missing something very simple here? Thanks Heikki For the P4B you can apply config.txt options for either port but that has to be explicitly specified. See the "Note for Raspberry Pi4B users" in the "HDMI mode options" sect...

Re: Raspberry Pi 1 B not starting up

Yes, the PSU is identical to one of those listed in the page. As for the measurement - that looks a bit much for me, I don't have that kind of equipment. At this point I'm going to wait some more and see if the PI recovers, and purchase a new one if it doesn't. Thanks for your help. Since it's conf...

Re: Raspberry Pi 1 B not starting up

I have an official RPI PSU, and according to the label it's a Stontronics DSA-13PFC-05 FCA. How would I measure the PSU's output voltage? I have a multimeter around and it looks a lot like https://www.amazon.com/Etekcity-Multimeter-MSR-R500-Electronic-Multimeters/dp/B01N9QW620 . Probably the same, ...

Re: Raspberry Pi 1 B not starting up

I identified my PI based on the image from https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=113614#p777263 . It says B Rev 2.1 (UK) / 000e next to mine. And yes, looks like it has 26 GPIO pins. Does the polyfuse protection mean that I should leave it untouched for 48-72 hours or will it reset by ...

Re: Raspberry Pi 1 B not starting up

I'm not quite sure what you mean by "1B Rev 2.1" - is it one of the B1/B2 variants shown here: https://www.cpmspectrepi.uk/raspberry_pi/MoinMoinExport/BlackAndBluePis.html with a 26 pin GPIO header (not a 40 pin one, B+ onwards)? Those Pi's have polyfuse protection which can take up to 48hrs to full...

Re: Unable to power cycle using a mains switch

What, exactly, are you using to power the Pi (ie. is it an official PSU plugged in to your "switched mains" or something else). Whilst I've occasionally had to (or accidentally) switch(ed) a Pi at the "mains" I don't recall ever needing to unplug/replug the uUSB lead.

It's a pity that you didn't mention your use of Kali in your first post OP did mention it in their second post and I pointed them to the Kali in my second post, so it was stated early in the tread. Re: Cannot connect using RealVNC without black screen

I shall try there but I'm not convinced it is entirely their problem. From what I can determine, it is TightVNC which has a problem with either setup or configuration. It is like saying that you should seek advise from the builder of the operating system when one of the applications running on it f...

Or, if you're happy with not being command-line based, there are several, GUI-based screenshot tools which allow you to select individual windows, regions or the whole screen. I use gnome-screenshot but, TBH, I haven't played with "dual, physical desktops" but it works fine with multiple, logical de...

Re: How to light up all the LEDs on a MAX7219?

Amongst other options the MAX7219 has a "self-test" command - see the data sheet for more info. It's one of the things I use within my 'C' demo. software for 7219-based LED matrix/numeric displays eg. see here: https://www.cpmspectrepi.uk/raspberry_pi/MoinMoinExport/Serial8x8LedMatrixModule.html and...

Re: Cannot connect using RealVNC without black screen

I've had something similar happen. With VNC enabled in raspi-config, the graphical desktop on HDMI froze with the background image and pointer. SSH kept working, and VNC worked in virtual mode, but either didn't connect or showed a black screen in service mode. (I hope I'm understanding the differe...

Re: Should my PI 4 board have rough edges?

Hi, All the pictures show nice smooth edges, but my new 8GB PI 4 has rough edges (e.g. along the edge near the GPIO pins) like it's been snapped off of a bigger board and not cleaned up. Even seemed to have a few strands of fibreglass which I pulled off. Is that normal? Quick answer - yes (there ar...

I apologize for this post but I have run out of ideas. I know that there are many posts about the HDMI signal not working either directly or to VGA via converter. I have a number of earlier Pis that have just worked fine to VGA from the full sized HDMI. The only difference is that I have an equival...

I learned the trick of using sudo raspi-config to allow me to boot without HDMI connected and to use VNC. However, I cannot get it to accept any resolution. If I choose 1600x1200, it changes to that resolution, but if I choose other resolutions, it seems to always set resolution to 1024x768, not wh...

I think it will work. What does your adapter look like? It's a small USB-C to microUSB adapter, similar to what you get with USB-C phones, except the port adaptation is from USB-C female to microUSB male. Yari That should work fine. +1 and, FWIW, I used one ("AG" here: https://www.cpmspectrepi.uk/r...
