Re: Super thin handheld

Hi

This looks really good how are you getting on?

For the controls why not use the db9_gpio_rpi driver for Retro Pi, see:
https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Se ... IO-Modules

That should give you enough buttons.

Re: Emulation on the Pi3: Initial Testing

These test results sound great. I've just tried to buy a Pi3 and been told I have a long wait :(.

Has anyone tried Muppen64 or PPSSPP on a Pi3 yet?

Re: WIP: Playable Nintendo 64 Emulator Available

Hello First of all I want to thank you a lot for all the job you've made on this emulator. I Bought my Pi especially to play with my old N64 games on my HD Tv. I'm a big noob on Linux and raspberry and I'm fighting some night with it :D What I would like to do with it is to use Emulation Station to...

Re: Arcade Machine Display Question

For MAME games I found that I wanted some games that were landscape and some that weren't so I wrote a C program to take the name and specify the rotation and resolution accordingly. You then have to map your controls to the correct orientation as well but that's not too big a deal. If C isn't your ...

Re: 2 joysticks cost effectively

I've noticed there's a lot of discussion about having a 2 player emulator set-up the this forum. Having built a few MAME like boxes in my time I thought I'd chip in. On the Pi there are 17 usable GPIO pins and 1 for ground. The essentials for a 2 player set up are: An exit game button - 1 pin - you ...

Re: Unreal Speccy Portable - ZX Spectrum emulator

Cool I'll give that a try. This next question should be a simple one - what keys map to the speccy Cap Shift and Symbol Shift. Can find them in the readme etc... or by trial and error.

I'm using HDMI there are some other threads that say there can be problems with the sound drivers so I might look into that.

Re: Unreal Speccy Portable - ZX Spectrum emulator

Yes - I built it this evening and it works like a dream :) . You are right about how good it looks too when Fuse didn't run I downloaded Unreal Speccy Portable and really liked how it looked so stuck with it.

The only problem now is that the sound stutters.

Re: Arcade cabinet

Try the links above that version is based on Arch Linux which is a basic version so doesn't use a lot of resources and boots really quickly.

You could also look at your memory settings I think MAME usual likes at least 128 MB as video memory IIRC.

What games are you trying to play?

Re: Unreal Speccy Portable - ZX Spectrum emulator

I agree but the version of Fuse installed with RetroPie doesn't run from the command line so I tried Unreal Spectrum and found it really good.

Re: Arcade cabinet

Hi I built a MAME in a box. C.f. an XArcade joystick with a plug and the Pi mounted in one corned so the HDMI, network and USB ports were showing. Basically you plug in a HDMI cable attached to your TV plug in the power and away you go. Not exactly what you want but close but I can't advise on scree...

Re: Atari to USB Driver

A different way around the problem would be to build a GPIO interface for the joysticks and use something like the GPIO keyboard driver in this thread: http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=78&t=29962 Assuming you just need up, down, left, right and fire for 2 joysticks there are enough ...
