THANK YOU. I was using an hdmi cable (HDMI on both ends) to a dvi adapter and into the monitor. The monitor was an HP (in all instances) made to be used for a computer. Not a t.v. which has a computer input (dvi, hdmi or the old CRT monitor input). Thank you for the correct code to shut down the Pi....

Wow be it to me, a very new pi user. I went to a local store and purchased an 8 G SanDisk card which was 'on sale' Worked great. I was all confused by reading what cards worked or not. I figured if the one on sale was not going to work, I would just take it back. I followed the instructions on this ...
