USB Hub 2A for a HardDrive

Hi, I recently bought a USB powered hub in order to plug a HardDrive on my RPi. It seems that this hub doen't give enough power to the hub. This hub as a 5V 1A power supply. I thought getting a 5V 2A to solve my problem. Will it solve it ? Is it possible ? Is it dangerous for my RPi or HardDrive ? T...

Re: Hard Drive Power

I just tried a weird thing but totally works : I plugged my HD (which has 2 USB plugs) into my iPhone charger (5V, 1A)... It works !!! And I next plug the remaining HD plug to my RPi and it works perfectly...
So I think my hub is bad... It's a cheap one...

So I should get a 2A powered hub ?
And also : my RPi is also plugged to the mains supply ! So I it doesn't need the hub power !

Re: Hard Drive Power

Yeah, I'm aware of that. That's why I got a Powered Hub, so that I could power devices which needed more than 100mA to work. But my problem si that my hub appears not to give enough power to the HD I think ! It doen't work any better than when I tried to plug it directly on the RPi. That's why i'm s...

Re: Hard Drive Power

It's a Transcend StoreJet 250Go so 2.5" I think.
It may be the Hub's power ? 5V 1A is enough ? Should I get a 5V 2A plug for my hub ?
I really don't know what to do...

Hard Drive Power

Hi, I just received my powered USB Hub, which I wanted to use to plug my hard drive on my RPi. I plugged it the alimentation (5V 1000mA) of the hub, plugged my HD and into my RPi and... It doesn't work... There is a little and regular "Clic", as if the HD was turning, but very slowly. It did the sam...

Re: Control by mail

So I looked at your link and it was helpful thanks. However, I'm having some troubles : I set up fetchmail, which fetches my mails from my gmail address. Here is the fetchmailrc file : http://img11.hostingpics.net/pics/968776Capturedcran20130404204553.png Then, I created a simple bash script, which ...

I currently have a Webserver on my RPi, so adding a SMTP server should be possible and not too difficult. After that, I didn't understand the all thing. I can use Procmail, which is (after googling) a mail filter. So I could configure it so as it would sort my mails by subjects of something like tha...

Plus, this server is using resources of CPU and RAM. My idea : make my RPi execute some commands by sendin...

but I looked in the syslog file, and it doesn't reboot apparently. Do you have any ideas why ?
