Re: Compute Module Test Board

Hello, Guys, First of all, thank you Briarios for this work. Could you explain a few words, why do you recommend using 4 layer setup in Eagle? I know that it is possible with 2 layers as well, and I have some experience with 4 layers. What I don't really get, is how did you planned the layers? I me...

Re: Compute Module Test Board

Hello Ian, your best option is to download the Board files and then send the Gerbers to your favorite PCB House for them to do the manufacturing. As it will be really expensive for me to send you a board  to give you a quick idea the cost of a single populated board is about $110-150USD as tha...

May I suggest allowing the pi community to design the board and then the foundation to vet and confirm the designs? :D

Re: Multi Server CM Board

Hello again everyone, I have finally managed to put all the parts together, and unfortunately I don't have the steady hands needed for SMD soldering/re flow so there are lot of solder bridges that i can't seem to clear. here are 2 pictures of the finished board anyway so you can see on what my idea ...

do an update with rpi-update and see if that solves the issue. other than debug i am not sure what else could be a problem.

Re: Compute Module Test Board

Hi I don't know if you're still active on this project or on this forum but I'm currently working on a project using your testboard as a template. However, I'd like to add in HDMI and a wifi module and I'm not sure how I might approach this as I'm still new to PCB. Any suggestions will help! Thanks...

just a small update. I am waiting on key tools to build this board. I had hoped they would show up last week but nothing yet. Just to let you know I have all the parts and PCB's just now waiting on some tools to get this Prototype up and running. :? :?

I would suggest to do a reflash with an older version to see if that would work.

Re: POE Hat

I could see it being useful for very specific scenarios, but I personally won't need one. The cost of the hat, plus a power injector or PoE-capable switch makes it a bit expensive for my uses. :D I will say having POE won't be for everyone, but there will be some people out there that will like one...

Re: POE Hat

It could be interesting, at the right price. I think this is the reference base price for a POE solution: £15.70 http://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-LINK-TL-POE200-Power-Ethernet-Adapter/dp/B0038X3RVA Being 802.3af compliant will be essential in some cases, so that adds value in those applications. Adding a...

Re: POE Hat

Why to leave existing ethernet connection unused and duplicate it in the HAT? :) Good question. some people would like to use an A+ as a remote device other people would want to use a device with 2 Network interfaces. I would like to cater to both :D hence why I would like to have a duplicate netwo...

Re: POE Hat

I will have to say that those are nice idea's for getting POE onto the raspberry PI. but while they both do similar jobs in splitting the power from the data and then forwarding the data to the PI's network port, what my idea is to have the data go directly into network IC similar to LAN9512 on the ...

POE Hat

Hey Guys, I am just doing a Poll to see if there is any interest in having a POE Hat made? As I am thinking about designing a Hat for the A/B+/PI2, the hat will have or hope to have the following items. a) 802.3af compatible POE device that will have the ability to power the Pi via GPIO Max (2Amps)....

Hello Visualecho, tis a valid question you have hmm... I had a look at doing a 2 layer board for the Test board. Re: Multi Server CM Board

Why use a two layer board? This sort of circuitry requires good signal integrity for the high speed signals and a low impedance (low for high frequency) power distribution network. Such a board will probably radiate to much and be too susceptible for exteranal noise sources. I would at least use a ...
